I need to look to see if I have one in the Bronco. I never used it in my jeep.

Why does anyone that doesn't live above the arctic circle need a block heater on a gas engine?

A diesel like my F350 I can understand but on a gasser what's the point?

My ‘24 WildTrak (w/2.7) came with the engine block heater.

No recall notice so far.

Personally, I wanted one because my commute is a mile and a half and I drove a manual (no remote start). On regular days I don’t get up to normal operating temp - let alone cold mornings. For me it was less about HVAC and more preventative. Figured warmer coolant flowing off the bat would only benefit in the long run.

Block heater or not a mile and a half isn't getting the vehicle (engine, trans, diffs) up to operating temps.

I bought the block heater when ordering my Bronco. It was only $100. I keep vehicles a long time. You never know.

I get that. But, starting at 90-100°F is better than 20-30°F or colder.

It’s a $190 option these days. Cost me significantly more than that after the fact.

There are these new inventions called garages that are even heated I heard.

A block heater does nothing to get the transmission or diff oils up to temp. A gas engine will fire up in pretty extreme weather. I've driven them above the actual Arctic Circle in Norway.

Everything I have read is that you need the fluids up to operating temperature in order to burn off moisture (water, condensation and fuel in the engine oil).

The engine heater will help the engine oil get there quicker, but not the transmission, diffs and transfer case.

Also it’s good to get the exhaust heated up to burn off the condensation.

My '24 HLE has a engine block heater and I haven't heard anything from Ford yet. I'm not to worried though, I bought the HLE from a dealer in Kansas and you might want one in Kansas but not much call for it in North Carolina 😁

My Bronco is a manual so I opted for the block heater. My vehicle usually sits outside so I set up a timer to turn on at 4 am, plug it in when it’s going to be down to 15 or colder.
What’s nice is it warms up under the hood a little bit, might help the battery stay a little bit warmer. Defrosting and heat works a bit faster.
Back in the day on the farm on the northern prairies most vehicles had a block heater,
