Just from your anecdotal experience from what you see coming into your dealership, what would you guess is the ratio of good/bad?

There's a lot of noise about it here, but that's to be expected on a forum. I'm guessing maybe 80/20?
Hard to put a number on it, because I only see what comes in the door at one dealership.
But from simply what I’ve seen personally, I would guess a relatively small percentage are bad or have issues.

I think we’ve replaced maybe 3 or 4 due to cracks or delamination.

I know it seems overwhelming on here, but like you mentioned, nobody on a forum is going to post a thread about how they don’t have an issue with their hardtop 🤷‍♂️

Even the threads started because someone does have an issue, if you actually read through the comments, there’s a large majority of people saying they’ve had no issues in comparison.

I also think that if the numbers were as high as some people believe them to be, it would be very difficult for Ford not to address the issue.
They warranty and release customer satisfaction programs all the time for far dumber concerns.

All that being said, regardless of what I see or think, I do heavily agree that this is something that Ford should address. Because the top is far from cheap, and to have a very expensive piece of the vehicle with issues that no longer has warranty after a short 36k miles is pretty ridiculous. I’d be pissed off too, like others, if mine was like some I’ve seen.

If the numbers are small, then just fix the few that have issues, even past 36k miles. Open a customer satisfaction program, and extend the coverage for a little while.

If the numbers are large, then that’s obviously even more unacceptable. Either way you look at it, they should make things right because this has gone on for long enough.

My hard top is painted gloss black, I putt PPF and ceramic coating on it to hopefully prevent that from happening in the future. Only time will tell.
Oh my God, that is exactly how all of this started !!!
You can't paint, wax or coat these tops!

If you want to do something about it, contact this law firm. And keep records of all your communications with Ford and your dealership.

Fan F&^%ing tastic!

My MIC top was replaced early (and of the the removable panels) under full warranty but I am very concerned about another one failing now that I am beyond 36k mi. Of course I filled out the form immediately. It does seem more focused on leaking soft tops which I've hear very little about. Regardless, see line #1 above :giggle:.

Had mine MIC top painted and ppfd and I can see the cracks starting to come in! So annoying…
Darn, what a bummer. Sorry to hear. That said, I recall multiple debates I had here with folks touting a probable or possible preemptive fix for this to paint or bedliner coat their top. I pushed back quite hard that that wasn't going to prevent anything... Sign up for the possible class action!

Would the be an issue because Bronco’s are parked outside? Mine lives in a garage. Wonder if that will help? I know there’s people with a lot more experience with these Broncos than me, but I just don’t understand how putting a PPF or at a minimum a ceramic coating would affect a hard top that has been factory painted and factory clear coated..

They are looking at it all, cracks, leaks, etc. The way class actions work, there can be subclasses of claimants with somewhat different claims, different state laws, etc.

It won't affect the hard top. My painted hardtop is ceramic coated. No issues, nor should there be. You could ceramic coat a MIC top but due to the surface type, it's not likely going to last nearly as long as it would on a painted surface. Also ceramic coating is not going to prevent the MIC top from cracking as it's a protective coating from the elements only.

Were the cracks there before the painting or no?

Yeah, for sure. I'm just trying to get a grasp of the actual percentage of defective tops. It will be interesting to see if/how/when this all gets resolved.
