Just wanted to say big THANK YOU to those who take the time to do these write ups and everyone else chiming in with their ideas/thoughts.
I completed the subwoofer upgrade and added the kickey key 500.1. The bass is finally present and such a big difference it makes! the B&O subwoofer is laughable compared to this.
Also great idea of putting the amp there in the roll cage. I did have to re-route a harness that was there but is easy enough passing it through the back. just make sure any sharp edges are covered and protected with tape.
I marked with black tape in the roll bar where was the key fob antenna connector so I wouldn't go higher than that. but theres lots of space to put the amp there.

Also didnt have to trim anything on the sub-box other than a tiny tab to put the kicker compR 8" sub. Only had to pry out the beauty ring of the sub and it fits perfectly there.
For reference Its a 2024 lux package Bronco with the B&O.

Thank you all!

So that's the factory sub enclosure? That's awesome that an 8" comp-R fits. I have a 10" comp-R waiting to be installed once I can afford the DAC to decode the A2B signal (thing's expensive!) but I had it installed in my last vehicle and it bumps hard!!

How did you pry out the beauty ring on the Sub without damaging the unit? Also, what wiring harness/adapter did you use from the Ford connector for the dual coil to the sub?

Much appreciate your feedback, thing is sitting all apart in the driveway cuz I hit a roadblock. Thought about splicing it, but also dont know the wiring diagram for the negative and positive on the OEM factory harness connector.

Just carefully laid it flat and with a flat screwdriver.
I cut the factory connectors and the wires fit in the sub connector just like that. Look at the wiring diagram to understand whats positive and negative.
For the amp I also cut the factory wires past the green connector and join each cable to the amp connector.

No reason to cut any factory wires metra has all adapters for dual 4 ohm subs readily available everywhere cheap, or just run new wires from new amp to sub

I’m not running a new amp. Keeping the B&O and upgrading the speakers only. Adapters should be coming in today.

Tye B&O amp will not be able to properly drive anything else but the OEM sub. You will be disappointed with the change

My cheap MB Quart on triple layer sound deadened OE enclosure can really pull off the deep bass that I have on some Flac tracks I'm shocked but after level 18 it's flat lining.

Now that I put ground zeros in the front corners the whole system sounds better with better front stage bass level 16 seems loud enough until top is off at 80 mph that is then it's another $4K in upgrades.

You don't need $4k in upgrades - my replacement Infinity Ref 407s, Memphis Mojo Pro 6 and Kicker Comp R8 w Key 500.1 are all that was needed. All in with a DIY install it was under $2k and totally stealth.

Im assuming 6+8 chanel dsp amp, 1000W 4 ohm sub amp, AtoB module, $1200 speakers & sub, $300 10" sub enclosure plus wiring and sound deadenig no labor thst only makes sense if usong high rez source.

comteplating hooking up my Kenwood XR1001.1 to a Sundown 8" sub becaue sounds pretty good now with Ground Zero BMW coax & Hertz MP....

Sounds flawless all the way to 30. My bass eq bar on Ford sync is at -4.

Thank you for the initial writeup!! Great job and detail. Links awesome too! Followed to the tee! Ray and smooth. Also thanks to some of the others on this thread. Some great ideas.

Only thing I did different is took a router to couple areas of sub trim ring where needed. Was a little uneasy about totally popping it off.

Sounds great! Worth time and cost!

If you tripple layer sub enclosure you will notice a high value return on the time! I did the internal divets between ribs and port plus 2 layers on exterior and the mounting interface points. Can't wait to up grade the new MB Quart 2 X4 ohm to a sundown or Audison low wattage one so works well with amp.
