Neither are great with high contact stress, and if the spring connection is a point or line contact (round spring wire loop riding on a hole edge or a burr), the contact stress can be shockingly high, even with lower spring loads. I don't know if that's the case, but it could be. The Krytox will likely work fine.

Did the same. The tailgate hasn’t squeaked for the two and a half months since I used the SIL-Glyde. The front panels started squeaking again slightly after about 6 weeks but I had removed those panels a few times by then. I wiped the seals down with a damp microfiber to get dust off and touched up the SIL-Glyde. Got quiet again. I think if you remove the panels on occasion and expose the seals to road dust, you’ll need occasional touch ups.

Agreed. The stuff leaves a little tackiness that doesn't help with dust collection. My 2dr is coated right now running doors and roof off. I'll plan a pretty thorough seal cleaning and relube when it goes back together for fall.

Not that it makes a difference in this application, Krytox is Teflon based and Sil-Glyde is silicon based. Either would be an excellent choice for lubricating rubber seals.

Krytox is actually PFPE and not PTFE although they do use PTFE in some of the greases as a thickening agent.

Thanks for the clarification. We always used Braycote 803 and I always thought krytox was similar.

Wow, Yep...Krytox worked for me too. I have a 25 badlands, 4-Door. The crunchy - squeaking from the rear glass weather seal started around 6k miles. I applied a small amount of Krytox to the entire surface area of both rear glass & tail gate weather stripping. The invisible 24 packs of Costco water bottle sound is gone.

I can't believe how loud that noise was.

Now I hear creaking and clicking from the 3 roof panels. I'm a war ravaged Oregonian and the rainy season has started. I Need to wait a few days to apply the Krytox. Unfortunately we have a one car garage. But that's ok, I bought the "Undomesticated Feral" trim. It doesn't know the meaning of the word "Inside"

My 2024 Big Bend has been developing an aggravating noise in the tailgate. It's more of a thumping than a squeak, and makes the kind of sound of something loose in the spare tire mount. I've traced it down definitively to the strut at the bottom of the tailgate, on the tailgate side. It's easily duplicated by opening the tailgate and very gently moving it a fraction of an inch, listening closely. I can hold the struct stationary in the process and the noise goes away, which means lateral movement in the mating strut ball joint under the tailgate is the culprit. Liberal application of lithium grease did not fix the problem. Has anybody else had this problem?

Which Krytox? So many options it's confusing

I can't speak for the Krytox or Braycote options, but these are quality brands for sure. There are many formulations in each of those product lines. Some were specified by Boeing for specialized uses as BMS materials or by trade name if BMS coverage was not available. The formulations are often aimed at specific uses/applications, so make sure you pick the right one.
I used the Sil-Glyde. There is an Amazon link in my original post. It's specifically for seals and it's reasonably priced for a large tube. It's been working well.

Note, my "squeak" sounded like a battalion of blood thirsty, angry rats in the cargo space. And that was on any surface but the smoothest of pavement. It was not just a periodic, mild annoyance. Our 2 door had some squeaks in its top, too, but nothing remotely close to the cacophony from the bottom rear window seal in the 4 door.

I put the Sil-Glyde on VERY sparingly and SUPER thin rubbing it into the seal really well and making sure the whole thing was coated. It's difficult to spread evenly from a large dollop, so I just put multiple small light smears on every few inches and added additional small small smears in if needed. When using the Sil-Glyde, if the seal has a bluish appearance after application, there is FAR TOO MUCH on it. If the seal looks black, but a little greasy, still got way too much on. If it just looks like a fresh, new black seal....that's probably right amount. Having it that thin, it doesn't appear to act like fly paper. I live on a short gravel road with a gravel driveway and some very large, messy conifers. Even so, my seal has not picked up a ton of garbage over the last 2 months (pic from today below). It might be getting ready for a second application, though.

This is a prime case where the “bigger the glob, the better the job” does not apply.

Did any of your noises sound like crackling? Mine have started to do that now that the temperatures are lower but it only does it at low speed…30MPH or less.

I had it in the dealer this summer for the passenger panel TSB related to the center seal and I’ve never heard any kind of noise from it until the temps dropped.

Ideas?

My rear glass horrendous squeak started at about 1 mph on my gravel road and driveway, so it was pretty easy to isolate. Cold can likely affect the seals and their songs. Have you tried any of the lubes?

The guide pins on the front panels used to make a clicking noise if they were rubbing on the guides. Some folks sleeved them with rubber hoses or whatever, I coated mine using a Q-Tip and a TINY amount of Super Lube ... synthetic grease with PTFE.
Can be found just about anywhere ...
Folks have used this effectively on the door & glass seals as well.
My guide pin clicks have not returned since my initial application when it was pretty new, late 2021 early 22-ish

Agree, trying to find the source was tough, but we were able to locate that it is coming from the passenger side panel rear, where it meets the solid panel above the back seats.
