I think your only saving grace is that the car that merged ran into the back of the other car before you tagged them. My Vantrue dashcam has GPS and shows mph, which would help in your situation to show you were at least slowing. I will just say, Good Luck. 👋

I'd say the ONLY thing you have going for you is the fact that the car in front of you hit the car in front of them BEFORE you hit that car.

And I get it, everyone on here is looking at a video, knowing what to expect so we are looking at everything. Maybe while you were driving you didn't notice the brake lights a few cars up or whatever. But as other's have already stated, the video makes it look like you are partially at fault for hitting the car in front of you at the very least.

In the video I had slammed my breaks on even as car was changing lanes .

You can see raptor nose dive. I was going to be stopped and other car slid in.

all officers and witnesses corroborated this .

I can only provide facts of what happened. Can’t go in shoulder it’s a drastic slope and best safest was a controlled stop.

speed as well was 51 in a 65 due to conditions.

I don’t know I never been involved in anything like this before

Were brakes an option?
Hell No...

"Full Speed Ahead Captain! Sound the collision alarm, we're going to do this Chinese Navy Style!"

Should have at least waved.

I had a guy back into my Bronco causing $4k in damage just a few weeks ago. Han's labor ain't cheap, ya feel me?

I don't know what the laws are like in CT but in my state you are practically guaranteed that rear-ending anyone is going to be considered your fault.

Hate that it happened to your Raptor. It's not your Bronco's fault.

Sorry to see this @THE_SAVSQCH and glad you are OK. Vehicles can be fixed - fixing people is a bit more complicated. Now that BBR is tainted, can we go wheeling?

BTW - Was this on the Southbound on the Merit Parkway earlier today? My 11am appointment was an hour late getting to my office due to bad traffic.

Bronco braking distance is for shit. Raptor is probably worse. People armchair quarterbacking eating quadruple cheeseburgers in their mother's basement, spitting images of my avatar.

Hopefully you won’t have a huge headache from the insurance companies involved, seems that most of the time they make things a pain in the ass.

Did your collision warning or automatic emergency braking kick in at any point?

Embankment is steep, but once you see a lane is closing, you gotta keep an eye on everyone in that lane and plan accordingly. You gotta know traffic is going to slow, if not stop, if 2 lanes are merging into one. Defensive driving.

This makes a solid case for tailgating everyone at all times.
This is honestly no joke.

Around my area, if you leave too much space you invite people to cut in front of you just like that. You either have to leave a LOT of room and just expect to constantly get pushed to the back of the line, or you have to ride the razor's edge of too close but close enough.

I finally decided it was better for my sanity to ride in the far right lane and let everyone pass me. I have passed untold number of wrecks by adopting that lifestyle.

@THE_SAVSQCH you apparently rub some people the wrong way here and I think that's why this thread is largely critical of your driving, but regardless of that I hope your repairs are quick and easy and that insurance covers it because fuck the lane-squirrels who dart back and forth between lanes like that.
