Drove w/ Front Hard Top Panels Only

Nothing is needed for the 4 doors running front and mid panels, rock solid. I live in a wind hole known as Nebraska and run that way in the summers when I go on longer trips and don't want to put the back on. I have to take highways to get anywhere so plenty of miles at highway/interstate speeds. Heavy cross winds, tail winds, head winds absolutely no movement. Heavy winds plus 50,000 pound cattle trucks head on traveling state highway, no issues. The hood looks like it will fly off but the roof is solid as can be.

There are pics of mine here somewhere on this forum both 2 door and 4 door running just the two front panels on the 2 door and the front and mid on the 4 door. I do use a bungee to secure the back of the mid panel on the 4 door but I am not sure that is even needed. Plenty of time at 80mph on super slab too

Hopefully a smart machinist with some free time will model a brace/bar that bolt in and allows all three top levers to latch…..

Nothing new? Bummer. Id leave the back shell off 100% of the time if i had a slick hard panel that covered the front and back seats and fully latched down.

When I had my 2dr JK, I would have the hard top and doors off all summer. If it looked like rain coming in, i would put the two Freedom panels on and drive around. Maybe get a little wet, but it's summer, no one cares.

Haven't tried it yet in my 4dr Bronco, but sounds fine as long as I'm not on the freeway doing 70+. Even then, doesn't seem like a trouble. That's why I carry full coverage insurance. But they might only cover it once!

The Sunrider bolts in at the back and I had no problem running it without the clamshell on my 2-door. The bad thing about living in Oklahoma is you get about a 15 minute notice before bad weather rolls in.

On the 4 door I recorded a significant amount of bouncing at the back of the 2nd row panel, especially with high cross winds. I’m not so much worried about the panel flying off as I am the latches at the front of the panel eventually breaking the bond to or delaminating the top. These take about a minute to install or remove before the rear section can be installed and it completely takes away any movement, just as the rear section does.
