Moab in August will be hot!🥵
Yup, but so is central Florida and I don’t mind the heat. We went to Moab last August too. It was in the mid 90’s most days and the humidity was much lower than here. One just has to take extra precautions - carry lots of water, sunscreen, some food and be prepared to spend a night on the trail if need be. I carry an inner tie rod and enough tools to fix nearly anything on the Bronco. I’m fully prepared. And I have means to contact Trail Mater if necessary.

There’s a whole series of benefits from going then including lower lodging costs, town isn’t busy, but best of all, had the trails to ourselves. Didn’t see another soul on Poison Spider and Steel Bender. Pure joy.

I got her pretty and drove 2 hours to visit my elderly folks yesterday. Now I’ll be driving home in heavy rain and she won’t look this clean for long.

Installed an aftermarket front parking sensor system. I could not figure out a way to post purchase add the correct parts. My wife is under 5' and was having issues parking. I had to drill the holes in the bumper. There is a small visual display showing the distance and a very loud beep as you get closer to an object. Does what is needs to do and an easy install.

Added a first aid kit to my driver seat molle panel. Going to order another Tigris bottle pouch for the passenger side, giving me 3 total. I got one holding a rolled up nylon shell, and can use 1 more for bear spray or extra water.

Not what I did with my Bronco today, but what someone else did with their Bronco today.
Left the Bronco at home and took the Shelby to Publix and this gorgeous Eruption Green Bronco parked next to me in the back of the parking lot probably figuring I would be door ding friendly.

Covered the horrible sunvisor warnings with Velcro sheet and installed Bartact Paracord Oh Sh*t handles:

The Velcro is a 6 inch heavy duty adhesive Amazon find that I cut down to cover the warnings. I used the soft ‘loop’ side, as with any other surface in the truck that has Velcro attachment points. What’s pretty convenient is that the interior roof lining in the Braptor is essentially a big ’loop’ side Velcro board. Accessories then all get ‘hook’ attachment points.

I also started the buildout of my modular storage solution and added some lights:

I got a set of three motion activated rechargeable LED strips w/ ’hook’ Velcro strips for left/right and rear-center, and two remote controlled for mid-center & front-center.
I applied a generous helping of ‘loop’ side Velcro strips to the conveniently perfectly sized Toughbuilt StackTech drawers, crates, totes, etc. The Velcro serves several purposes: One, as a soft & functional surface; Two, to visually cleanup the MANY Toughbuilt logos; and Three, dampens any potential rattle between stacked units.
The Toughbuilt system is really nice - great build quality, plenty of sizes and options, and importantly - fits 2 units deep perfectly. I will be installing mounting brackets to the floor liner once they arrive. Another set of full unit fits next to these, but I’ll be installing a fridge slide this week.

I experienced the correlation between high heat and a general lack of other off road traffic last week, so I know exactly what you mean. It was 106 degrees in the Anza Borrego desert area. When I got to the off road vehicle area, which is usually pretty busy, there was only one other vehicle. There was great high speed opportunities and sand dune driving. In the summer, Death Valley has much higher temperatures. It still holds the world's record for highest air temperature ever recorded at just under 135 degrees. But hey, it's dry heat! :)

Went out to explore an area near Tonopah north of I10 including visiting Belmont mine. Funtreks rates this one moderate but it's honestly really closer to an easy trail (a few steep off camber areas was about the worst of it). Only was in low range for maybe half a mile; did most of the trail in Baja and had a good time. Lots to explore out here; we mainly visited the primary mining site but it sounds like with more time and a full day to explore you could definitely find some other interesting stuff as there were at least 2 or 3 other smaller mines around. Nice diversion for the afternoon and officially broke 10K miles on my way back. Need to schedule my oil change!

Only saw one other group with 4 UTVs. Pretty much had it to ourselves.

First oil change?
Yep, I've always generally done 10K intervals with synthetic oil vehicles (a pair of Toyota 4Runners, an Audi TT-S, VW Golf R and a Land Rover Discovery Sport). The OLM indicator is currently at 22% with 200 mile estimate (which I imagine it flags at 20% oil life). My usage has been heavily biased to highway driving under low loads; probably around 75% of my mileage to date.

I know some people will think I'm an idiot, but never had any issues simply following suggested intervals as per manufacturer in 20+ years of vehicle ownership (and from what I can tell Ford basically says change by 10K and has the OLM as a secondary indicator, which could trigger an earlier change). I was honestly a bit surprised that it didn't come down quicker as some have mentioned the OLM going below 10% by 7500 miles.
