I thought the same thing when I found the Icon. Why waste money on this since Ford can track your vehicle anytime with the built-in GPS. Maybe Ford doesn’t allow the dealer to do that?Everybody know: any good covert operative worth his sh!t knows to always leave an obvious bug to be found so they'll stop looking for the REAL bug.
I'm convinced the dealers install these just so you'll find them, bitch on the forums about "MY PRIVACY", remove them, then feel satisfied and STFU. All while totally ignoring the fact that Ford has GPS (with real-time cellular location broadcast) built into the very heart of your vehicle.
It's either that or some inventory tracking system just so the dealer can know the location of the vehicle pre-sales. And it's cheaper to just leave it in the rig than it is to pay a tech to uninstall it after the sale.
But I doubt that. That's just too mundane an explanation. It's gotta be something sinister.
