I know someone that absolutely PAMPERS their bronco. It's never even driven down the same street as a car wash.
And her roof still started cracking. So no, not related to car washes.

See that’s what I was wondering too but yeah it seems like some do and some don’t.
Weird man …. Kinda makes me look at mine and wanna save up for a metal top like armadillo tops. Probably gonna be what I do honestly if mine ever does.

Poor product, End of subject. Gen 4 and 5 models out there and no problems. Got a 20 yr old hard top on my 2005 T-Bird only defect is a bump from taking off. Oh touch up paint fixed it

I mean I got my gen 1 bronco that I used and it still has a perfect top haha quality shows I guess.

I just finished up installing the Turn Offroad hardtop last night and this morning

Only one test ride so far, but much quiter than oem soft top. Just gotta let it air out. Left over smell from manufacturing I guess.

Another one bites the dust… 24 Raptor, 1 month old, garage kept, hand wash only… no clue what all was done at the dealership before I bought it, thought I looked it over good... Claim being filed… would love to get a painted top and pay the difference, but alas that seems to be a foreign concept. Suppose I will keep replacing till warranty is gone, then grab an armadillo.

Based on what I've seen in the forums, it's happening on both 2 and 4 door. It's the same crap from the same supplier. Taking it to dealer on Wednesday (along with a printed TSB on this) to get the replacement process going.

Top of the grade. I use Capital in Carson, but I don't particularly like them, to the point of considering someplace on the west side of the Sierra's.

This! I would gladly pay the difference in cost from a MIC to a painted top out of my own pocket if it was offered to me. The money is worth being able to sleep at night.

So you believe that the very most outer layer of the MIC top is the ONLY problem with it? When we have bubbling, cracking, delamination, core bleed/imprinting? I would be willing to place a very large woger that top problems will occur on painted ones as well. They are just a bit newer so a bit longer to wait.

This should be an eminently solvable problem.

The entirety of the top can be removed. Not much of it is nearby other items that are the same color (door handles are small.)

Could you not remove the top, prep the surface, and shoot the entire thing in a flexible coating that is near-identical or better than the factory look?

See above. You can't put lipstick on a pig and have any expectations. It's not a problem of the outer most surface or the sealing of that surface. All this would do it create a layer to hide SOME of the failure modes of the top.

Hand wash it; because lately I’ve noticed there is a sticker which says to hand wash the MIC top.
I did not have this sticker on mine when i bought it, but hand washing my MIC and applying protecting agents to plastic parts have kept it perfectly fine.
I’m curious why many bronco’s I’ve seen on lots have not had this sticker I recently saw on one.

Yes there definitely has to be some flexing, especially at interstate speeds and the buffeting meeting semi-trucks etc. I think the hand washing only signs are there to dissuade you from going through the beater type of auto washes that would surely flex the top even more. With that said, I don't understand how Ford expects you to carry anything on a roof rack or actually use a rooftop tent ! Do they need to put a No Fat people allowed in the rooftop tent sticker as well ?

Yes as to a reason not to wash in that way, absolutely.

Ford has a very low static and dynamic weight limit for a rack on the roof, as it is flimsy. JCR make a stiffening kit which changes the load path from the rack through the MIC top to the body TO roof rack to roll bar, thus significantly increasing the load capability of the rack. I have it, it's a bit hard to install and align perfectly, but absolutely does the job well as designed/intended.

The painted top is NOT a painted Mic top. Different construction.

Did a wash this AM, and as with every wash, I look carefully at the MIC top as there seems to be a lot of failures. Well, have a crack starting in the center panel, behind the driver. Here is the background for information:

• 2024 Outerbanks, purchased in August 2024 with less than 6000 miles.
• Very light off-roading (smooth dirt trails), garage kept, Phoenix, AZ.
• Always hand washed with mild soap, never put any solution, etc. on the MIC top...just wash and dry.

I suspect (contrary to the Ford fan boys on this site) that there are MORE failures than we know, not LESS. I know that forums "magnify" problems, but not every ford owner is on this site, nor will they post. Ford has had 4 years to work with Webasto to get this under control, and 4 years later....still problems.

I like my Bronco, a lot. I'll keep it while it's under factory B to B warranty, but then it's gone. Oh, and I know there are aftermarket har tops, but that ain't gonna happen. Paid $64K for it, and I'm not dropping another $4K on an aftermarket top. So I'll just keep watching it, bringing it in for warranty service, then "bye bye" after 3 years!

I recently noticed the issue on my 2024 I got in September. At first, it seemed like an easy warranty claim as the dealer ordered the parts right away. However after a few weeks of waiting, I was recently notified by the dealer that they have stopped ALL Bronco hardtop repairs because Ford has stopped paying them for the repairs and they are not doing any repairs until Ford agrees to start paying again. The fact that Ford has recently stopped paying the dealership for this is pretty concerning. I wonder if anyone else’s dealership has stated this?

We looked at a brand new 2024 Raptor a few weeks ago. Around the passenger side quarter window in the back there were full on spider webs on each corner. Dealer did not know but offered to obviously take care of under warranty. We ended up with a different vehicle but thought ford had that sorted by the 2024 models. Obviously not.

will PPF stick to these tops? Thinking about asking my guy if I could ppf it to protect the top. Maybe in velocity blue if I can.

But you can. Grind down the substrate, sand it, couple coats of high build, paint, done

Or fret about it your whole life. I HAVEN'T GOT MUCH TIME LEFT!!
