I just bought a new (last 24 on the dealer lot) 2024 two door that has the grey colored hard top. Now I am worried........

Hand wash it; because lately I’ve noticed there is a sticker which says to hand wash the MIC top.
I did not have this sticker on mine when i bought it, but hand washing my MIC and applying protecting agents to plastic parts have kept it perfectly fine.
I’m curious why many bronco’s I’ve seen on lots have not had this sticker I recently saw on one.

If you have the headliner, make sure they order it. My top was the first that my local dealership had seen also, unfortunately that meant they didn't know they had to order the headliner separately.
Asking for a theory! But did you go through car washes with your bronco MIC top, if so, Im talking the ones with the beaters that spin.
I have noticed hand washing my MIC top had helped it last pretty good and am curious if that maybe the reasoning for cracks like these? Any input from anyone with knowledge please leave a reply.
100% hand washed 100% of the time. Never ever take it through a car wash ever.

That’s wild; I wonder if it’s just a few factors that make some fall apart and others keep. I’ve been curious because the stickers I’ve seen recently on broncos are to hand washing the MIC, but I’ve seen outerbanks going through car washes out here.
Luckily I just love the car enough to never touch a car wash again, but I don’t know why no one actually told me to hand wash it. They actually told me the opposite at the dealer and now I’m curious how many others have been told the same.

Coming from multiple Jeeps (JK's and TJ's) the build quality of Broncos is shocking awful. Makes my old Gladiator seem like a Lexus. I have a MIC top and I am pretty sure it was cracking on the lot.

Could it possibly be environmental factors too such as heat and cold I bet. Just intriguing….. I feel bad for everyone who talks about them breaking and I always check mine and just nothing yet …… I feel the hardships for sure.

I dont think so. Go to some dealer lots, Look at some with some miles on it. Bought a 2-24 Badlands, 800 miles it started.

Yes there definitely has to be some flexing, especially at interstate speeds and the buffeting meeting semi-trucks etc. I think the hand washing only signs are there to dissuade you from going through the beater type of auto washes that would surely flex the top even more. With that said, I don't understand how Ford expects you to carry anything on a roof rack or actually use a rooftop tent ! Do they need to put a No Fat people allowed in the rooftop tent sticker as well ?

The design is great but the product is dismal to say the least. If they followed the same process as other vehicle lines it would be great! But my feeling less is better for a more profitable bottom line.

I know someone that absolutely PAMPERS their bronco. It's never even driven down the same street as a car wash.
And her roof still started cracking. So no, not related to car washes.

Poor product, End of subject. Gen 4 and 5 models out there and no problems. Got a 20 yr old hard top on my 2005 T-Bird only defect is a bump from taking off. Oh touch up paint fixed it :) 🍿

This should be an eminently solvable problem.

The entirety of the top can be removed. Not much of it is nearby other items that are the same color (door handles are small.)

Could you not remove the top, prep the surface, and shoot the entire thing in a flexible coating that is near-identical or better than the factory look?

Good to know that it may not be related to going through car washes. For different reasons, I have taken mine through only touchless car washes - not the ones that use brushes against the vehicle - like my dealership uses after Service (except for mine since I ask not to) - although even the touchless car washes use wax and high pressure water on the MIC tops. But when you live in a climate like Pittsburgh with the freezing weather along with the harsh road salt being used several months each year I would think that the alternative of no car washing would be even worse.
