After I did all the engine mods(totally worth it for anyone considering) I wanted to see if I could maintain the same gas mileage. So I drove it mostly in eco and got it up to roughly 19.4 average. which was pretty close to driving it off the lot a few months ago.

Last week I switched to "normal" and it jumped up another .3  I'm happily surprised but very unexpected as I was expecting to loose mileage.

Has anyone else seen better gas mileage after mods?

My mods were
ported intake and throttle body
hard plumping cold side turbo
aftermarket intercooler
ford performance tune

drives amazingly and happy with the result... as well as the gas mileage lol

After some simple bolt on mods (CAI, Intercooler, Charge Pipes, 3" cat-back) and moving up to 37s I didn't gain anything but maintained 17.5mpg.

Contemplating the ported intake and throttle body...did you see a noticeable performance difference?

I did all my mods at the same time so I can't really speak to gains of individual parts. I can say that after I put everything on.. holy smokes my bronco scoots compared to stock lol

When I get on it .. nothing but smiles on my face.

I did the MBRP catback exhaust in Dec of 23 and my mpg went up. This past Dec, I did the Mishimoto intercooler and upgraded charge pipes along with the FPP tune, Corsa intake and 37's and it still looks like mpg is going up. But we're in the middle of winter with cold temps and winter gas/longer warmups so that throws off the numbers for a couple of months. In the next 2-3 months, I'll have a better idea if mpg really has changed or not. Winter is the worst time to look at mpg because of the gas, colder temps/longer warmups and any use of 4WD or AWD in snow or icy conditions. I think the exhaust is the easiest mod to see mpg increase, you can feel when you let off the gas it coasts without slowing down quickly like the stock exhaust does.

Hard plumping cold side turbo? Is this like the opposite of Ballpark Franks that plump when you cook ‘em? Whatever this mod is… plumps when it’s cooled?

Depending on the mods and how you drive/where you drive, yes, some CAN add mileage under certain conditions.

For example, if you give yourself freer flowing intake and exhaust (which you did), and maximize your fuel/air ratio (which your tune probably helped with), then at a steady-state on the highway you'll see improved mileage because the engine isn't working as hard. HOWEVER, those same mods around town would SLAUGHTER what little mileage you did get around town, because here that freer-flowing air works against you. Which is why OEMs don't do it from the factory - they've got to balance it between steady-state highway driving and stop and go city driving.

So, if you did your mods and drive at steady speeds a lot, it's not a surprise that you saw a mileage improvement.

Have you hand calculated your mileage? Engines programming can throw off the ECU mileage calculation.

I have not but this is a ford tune so I would be pretty disappointed if ford messed that up.
