The reservoirs broke off my Bilstein shocks. The dealer will replace with the recalled version under warranty.
Is it worth paying the difference for Hoss 3.0s? Can I just do the rears without replacing the fronts?

By all accounts the HOSS 3.0s have much better ride but mixing shocks front to rear not a good idea IMO.

I’d love to know how they’re replacing it with the “recalled version” when parts for the recall aren’t even available yet lol

They called Ford and they said they would send the new version. So there must be some for cars with broken shocks

Somehow I doubt that’s true. But hopefully it is for you.

I think if this were the case they’d be fixing new vehicles they can’t sell because of the recall first.
When you get it repaired post some pictures of the part number on the new struts.

Ive had (2) replaced under warranty. My guess is they have replacements available but not enough to do the estimated 140k trucks that may need it.

Would they replace them with the ones that are being replaced in lieu of replacing the replacements when they can be replaced later? 🤔

Unlikely they're releasing the recall parts to certain vehicles. That's not something they ever do with a pending recall. But no way to know since there isn't even a listed part number for them yet.

🤷‍♂️ The old parts are still available to order. Don't think that would be the case if they weren't still using them.

Kinda interesting...so we can still purchase the shocks that have been recalled?

For, now yes. I'm guessing once the recall is actually released and no longer advanced notice, that wont be the case and they will be superseded.

Edit: Unless, the supersession they made a while ago is not included in the recall. But that wouldn't make sense since people have had their shocks replaced multiple times it sounds like.

Turns out that Ford only has the old ones. The dealer ordered them and will replace under my extended warranty. Then they will replace again under recall. The service manager said he couldn't put Hoss 3.0 on my car since they are not a Ford part and would need to find a shop for that. I tried explaining that they are stock on 2022 Wildtraks. He said mine is a 2021 and not a 2022 model and would not do it. He said he could not order them through Ford.
Does anyone have a number for someone at Ford Corporate to talk to about this. The Consumer number just gives you a call center in Asia. All they did was call the service manager and told him who to talk to. All that did is get them replaced under warranty.
Any ideas on how I might get the Hoss 3.0 instead

As expected. Nothing stopping a warranty replacement with the old Bilsteins. The idea that you were jumping the line with the upgraded part was a fallacy.

Any warranty or recall work will be defined by the parts dictated by Ford. There is no path to install an upgrade with Ford footing the bill for labor and paying the cost differential for the parts.

If you want to upgrade your shocks, there is nothing stopping you from ordering the parts and paying the labor.

Ford is never going to warranty or pay for something that your vehicle wasn’t originally equipped with.

Trade in for one that has HOSS 3.0, or get take-offs and install them yourself (voiding the warranty).

I am a little heartened to hear Ford is still allowing the older ones to be installed before the replacements are available. I assume that's because they don't rust away right away, and some folks actually need their suspension fixed before then. The truth is probably more prosaic.

I lost both of my reservoirs. I love the report that my dealer sent into Ford. It says my shock has a hole corroded in them. He didn't even know they have reservoirs and were missing.
