That would make sense and in the long run no warranty claims. Just a thoughtAny chance Ford moves off of these tops for ‘25 and just goes with something similar to what Jeep uses for their hardtop construction?

Perhaps a taped on spoiler would help?So now that it has turned colder up here in the north east it appears as though my MIC top has not liked it a whole lot.

Top pic looks way worse in person. Hard to get a good photo of it. It is cracked and very wavy.
In the second pic it was cracked this summer but barely noticeable but now they have exploded.
I've tried a less extreme example of that. Can't say the results were ideal.Or this...........
Here is the sameDo you think cold and freezing water might have contributed to the escalating cracking? My top has a few small cracks, and I was thinking of applying something on the surface, to prevent water from getting inside the cracks, but not sure what.
Why bother? It's cracked. Have Fordshit replace it.Do you think cold and freezing water might have contributed to the escalating cracking? My top has a few small cracks, and I was thinking of applying something on the surface, to prevent water from getting inside the cracks, but not sure what.
Yes but you have to pay extra for the painted MOD top. That said even though the MOD tops are constructed differently, they haven't been sold in volumes where we would know if they are as good as Jeep tops, although I've not heard of any Heritage owners complaining about them.Any chance Ford moves off of these tops for ‘25 and just goes with something similar to what Jeep uses for their hardtop construction?

There’s such a wide variation between those who’ve never had a problem and those who’ve had several tops replaced. From following these threads, it seems to me there’s no correlation between failures and roof racks, roof top tents, frequent on/off, temperature variance or severity of off-road use. That takes me to manufacturing. Is it a good design with poor quality control at the factory? Or is it a design that is simply too susceptible to minor variations in the build process Or just too difficult to get right? Whatever it is, it’s discouraging Ford can’t get a grip on it. But what do I know. This isn’t my area of expertise.
I bought one of the tops offered by invitation in June. 13k miles later, all is still well. Maybe I better start knocking on wood.![]()
