Nice look at your caliber bracket. @5GENIDN

I am a little confused. 5gen’s brackets have a different geometry. There is a 90 degree shoulder that can efficiently carry rotational force from braking. The brackets that @SierraBronco has have a keyed notch that has only about 45 degree angles on either side. Less efficient in carrying rotational loads from brakes. Looks like two different designs, redesign? Am I missing something?

May have changed the box a bit for the one-ton upgrade.

I believe @5GENIDN is of the "first batch" crew. These have a different unit bearing.

You are right... they did change the design a bit toward the upper bolt..... Not sure why they changed the design but it still looks like a significant miscut to me. Those should nest tightly together or you are simply forcing ALL the rotational load onto the bolts. That gap makes the mirrored cut absolutely meaningless.

What I’m blown away by is that the profile looks similar to what Toyota guys sent me, but their gaps are significant. I don’t understand the inconsistency in tolerances. No Jeep guys have reached out so far, so maybe they’re like @5GENIDN and everything was built properly. Or at least anything that was wildly out of tolerance was caught and replaced.

comparing the two designs... Now I do not have the stress analysis software but.... I would anticipate a result where the new design would resist higher forces than what the first design that I have would.... (sorry about the focus... did not check the pic until later)... Look at where that "notch" lies in relation to the rotation.... The forces in braking transferred from the caliper would be in a clockwise rotation in this picture......

Instead the bracket was pushed a 1/4” further away from the mounting location and no contact is made on one box, with the bolts taking on all the load

Do you get more clearance when the brakes fall off?

Well, I got the new caliper brackets last week and installed them this past weekend. The installation went smooth and everything fit. I will post some picture, I thought I took pictures of the rear brackets installed, however, I couldn't find them. The bolts on my old brackets were still torqued except for the top bolts on the front brackets. I did have loose bolts on the brackets after the initial install of the portals so I removed all the bolts and put Blue Loctite248 on them. We have driven a little over 2400 miles since then, which included many trails with the most challenging one being a 7/10. This time around I used Red Loctite268, fingers crossed everything stays tight with no more loose bolts. I have to change the gear oil in the portals in about 500 miles, so I will check everything then to see how things are holding up.

Thanks for sharing. Interesting that they deleted the shoulder not that the dowel is able to be used. Was there any deviation with the dowel installed? Like a rocking back and forth with the dowel being used as a pivot point? I'm sure they took the time to really get it right given the circumstances. Just curious.

Edit-Your driver was still tight after 2400 miles?

The bigger the sidewall the more clearance you lose after your wheel gets cut in half and the tire deflates instantly

Time to start making 26" wheels a thing.

I had a long conversation with Quinn about these even though mine are not effected.... Their math does not even try to use the dowel or any facial interaction with the portal housing longitudinally. All of their math is based 100% on the frictional interface between the back side of the plate and the face of the housing where it sits flush against. The 30 or now 36 foot pounds torque applies enough pressure on the bracket that the friction between those two surfaces far exceeds the required resistance of the caliper. I think the BIG problem is that the "shim" created an additional slip plane that complicated the math in unforeseen ways even though the simple equations for each plane were sufficient.... Just guessing on my part.
