One thing that hasn't been mentioned is CAC condensation. Grill shutters are also used to help limit the amount of liquid water your car ingests.

If you delete the AGS I can imagine any warranty that the dealer could blame on condensation (misfire, plug fouling, coilpacks) will not be honored.

Edit: I missed @BadlandsA51 's post. Great minds think a like....and have A51 Badlands.

Anyone want to sell me their 2.7 grill shutter assembly?
Has anyone noticed the rear shroud assembly? In addition to the active grille shutters in front, there is a rear shroud ducted towards the radiator, and below that opening there are gravity operated louvers... I can't figure out if the purpose of that shroud is to duct hot air upwards to be sucked out with the radiator fans or if the purpose is to allow heated air being drawn in through the radiator to be directed toward the intercooler during cold days...and I don't want to screw anything up especially in light of this:

With that information in mind it is feasible that the Bronco may run too hot or too cold...and those shutters are designed to modulate or regulate temperatures. My guess is that for those of you that removed your shutters everything's working as it should and everything is all good, but for folks who live in extreme temperatures or who may be partially blocking things etc etc this could be the tip of the iceberg for potential warranty issues and customers having to pay to have something troubleshot that becomes an issue as a result of modifying the intercooler or the shutters (or simply adding a bumper or winch that blocks the critical area that's not supposed to be blocked). I love the comfort of my Bronco, but I miss the simplicity of the first generation Bronco drivetrain.

Morning, how are ya guys?

Simply put, never use eco mode and wanna maximize cooling when I get my intercooler as I'm doing the stock location, so whats needed, do I need to FORScan it or is it just rip some pieces out but also keep something to trick the unit?

Thanks in Advance
my shutter isn't opening and I've been postponing the fix until last night I realized the second turbo isn't building boost, so I guess the computer doesn't like the fact that it can't control that gate.

Any ideas on how to get rid of that ? I'd like to remove the vents too but I'm thinking it'll have the same effect, no second turbo

Can’t you just remove the shutter and then plug the motor back in?

I haven't checked coolant temps yet, but it seems odd to me that my new-to-me Bronco runs oil temp at 217°F cruising at 70mph on flat ground, with ATF at 209°F. I figure it's Ford wanting the oil to be hot for MPG, but this seems excessive. I'm going to keep watching it and see if it changes dramatically at the 70°F threshold mentioned in this thread. I'm used to seeing oil temps under 200°F in my STI but am open-minded yet skeptical of Ford engineering.

Also, how do you know when the shutters are open or closed while driving?

I had a rental Dodge a while back and it sat at 219 oil temp the entire time. That doesn’t sound too bad really. Keep in mind that’s oil, not water temp.

The weird thing about the Bronco is it has such a wide band. I see normal operating temps of anywhere from 190 to 215.

If you turn on the AC it will usually drop the oil temp a bit since it forces the cooling fan on full duty.

I ran across the info about leaving AC on and will do that. I don't think I will delete the shutters but am open to it, no pun intended.

I drive in Sport mode and would delete eco mode if Forscan listed the bit for that, but they only show baja, rock, mud and sport. I happened to have a compatible adapter for Forscan so I was disabling features the day after I got the Bronco home 😁.

Someone around here figured out deleting Eco, so if you search around here it's someplace.

Yep, once again I spoke too soon, haha! Have to use Easy mode in Forscan, as the spreadsheet doesn't list Eco mode. 3 reasons to delete eco mode: Shutters closed when they don't need to be, fewer twists of GOAT dial to get to Sport, and the slower shifts put more wear on the clutches.

I do find Eco mode useful - my wife and son use it. Not because it actually increases fuel economy or anything, but because it makes shifting the 7MT a lot more forgiving by dialing down the accelerator pedal response, and overall driving a bit more relaxing by loosening the steering response a bit.

They don't drive my Bronco that often, granted, but it's nice to have there for when they do. I find that myself half the time I don't even remember the GOAT dial exists - Sport mode doesn't feel all that much different than Normal with the 7MT and ProCal tune.

Just for INFO:

I have a 2 Door Black Diamond, 2.3, 10R60. I disconnected the shutters so they are open all the time. No codes or issues all summer. Coolant and oil temp never get above 205F. FYI: I have a side display for other PID's I can monitor. Thats how I get coolant temp.

@Brian_B I would have gotten a manual and my wife was okay with it (it's her vehicle), but she HAD to have remote-start and even after-market systems can't do that on the Bronco. Forscan lets you "enable" it but no one has gotten it to work, probably because the transponder is not a 2-way in the 7MT.

@brian6674 I'm saving up for the Ford Performance tuner and will display some stats like IAT and coolant temp. In both of my Foresters, I have 20+ gauges on two displays (Android headunit and Defi ZD Advance mini display), so you could say I'm a geek for stats - always have been, always will. We only have 91 octane around here, no E85, so the modest FP tuner is enough of a boost for me. I researched the real tuning of these, as I tune my own Subarus, and I see you can get an unlocked ECU and pay a professional to tune it. I want to tune it myself so if there is ever software that lets me do that, I probably will. The 10-spd auto looks like it takes a real mastermind to tune, from what the ZFG Racing guy has said. Hundreds of tables with no documented help.

Someone actually did get it to work (allegedly).
But won't divulge the process freely do to liability. It's on the forum somewhere.
