Okay. I need some advice. Thanks in advance.

I took my 2022 Badlands out this weekend and bagged it pretty hard: mostly brutal dirt roads but also a little mud. Not much mud, just a little here and there. Pic attached. (It got worse than this but not THAT much... maybe twice the mud.)

Had my fun, driving home, and then I got FIVE flashing service lights: 4x4, hill descent, swaybar, ABS and AdvanceTrac.

So, I took it to Ford that day. It sat there all the next day and they did nothing. Way to go Ford. Typical.

So I talked to the service advisor and he said he talked to the electrician and this is what he said, literally, "The problem is the radar sensors in the front of the vehicle. (I have the basic package, not even the mid, the basic!) So, when these radar sensors get muddy or out of line, they send bad signals which (apparently) affects all these other systems." His words, not mine.

So, I ask, how to fix it. Clean the sensors and re-position them, he says.

But, I say, this vehicle was MEANT to go into the mud. Is Ford saying, "Our commercials look great but don't actually do this because your Bronco will die...."?:crazy::crazy:

Then I ask how to prevent this from happening again.... Shrug.

SO, is this right? And if so, or not, why all the codes and how the heck do I prevent this again? Gawd, right now I wish Honda made a Bronco.

Thanks!

Maybe somebody will correct me but if you have the base package the only such sensors are for the pre-collision assist system and those are located behind the rear view mirror on the windshield. So that would be easy to clean, just wipe that area down. But, I am very skeptical that this is what is causing your problem.

Clean out your wheel speed sensors. My money’s on your issue being at one of the wheels/ABS with a bunch of mud/grit/etc in there

So, do I need to do this everytime I take it off road? That seems crazy, doesn't it? Is this what you have to do each time?

Thank you.

No you shouldn’t have to at all.. but I’ve seen this happen with more than 1 other 6th Gen. Mud/water does weird stuff sometimes… gets into places it shouldn’t

Thank you to everyone who wrote. Ford said it was a rear wheel speed sensor that got muddy and flashed all those lights. The fix: wash it. The prevention: none.
Honestly Ford, if you are reading this, WTH?!? Nice commercials though.

Glad it’s sorted! FWIW stuff like this happens irrespective of manufacturer and is just a byproduct of conditions and chance. Drive enough modern (Jeep, Toyota, Ford, etc) through enough mud/water you’ll get all of them to slip up eventually. Just wait till you find out where the alternator is on the 2.7…
