I put this in my KRAKEN build thread, but thought I would post here as well for more visibilty.
Painted KRAKEN's roll bar with Plasti Dip; color "black & blue". Was planning to wrap the roll bar, but after a close inspection of the roll bar's many welds, spot welds, holes, & slots I decided to just Plasti Dip it. Was going to do it black and then I found the black & blue color which plays well with my stripes & rockers. I removed the roof latch plates, speakers, and window molle brackets and installed temporary screws in all the threaded holes. I did not remove any plastic panels and just taped & draped everything which was a big pain in the @ss, but I got it done. I used two cans of Plasti Dip and got 4 good coats with a little left for touch up. Wish I had another can for a couple more coats. If you do this, plan on needing three cans.

Looks great!! Was thinking of doing the same on my 2 door. When I talked with the Plasti Dip team, they said the spray cans wouldn't do well on horizontal surfaces because of the cans spitting clumps. Did you have any issues like that?

Nice. Glad you posted this and are happy with it. I am wanting to change the color of my hard top and thought about plasti dipping it. Of course i won’t use spray cans to accomplish that. I don’t see much on here about ppl using plasti dip.

I Plasti Dipped my Sas Beauty Rings and it has held up very good, so far. That helped my decision to use it on the roll bar. No problems with the spray clumping as long as you keep the can somewhat vertical which you can do for most of the roll bar and just spray at an angle to the horizontal top of the bar. You can get a couple of good short squirts in a more horizontal orientation before the feed tube inside the can empties. Just squirt, squirt, then go back to vertical. Be sure to shake the can good before using each time between coats and shake a little during use.

Just curious but are there other colors of plastidip?

My Badlands is iconic silver and I’m thinking of going the inverse on the roll bars and use them as a highlight color. Really like this setup below with the bright green but also considered a bright red.

Side note: would like a custom cage too but haven’t saw any on Broncos yet.

I actually run these window molle panels which makes them less accessible, except for the back ones. Also have a bunch of molle bags on my cargo molle panels full of bungee cords, rope, paracord, zip ties, rain gear, flashlights, toilet paper, etc. If someone steals shit, of course I would be pissed, but it will get chalked up to the price of running topless I guess. After all freedom isn't free.

Wonder how one of those retro builds would look with that bar wrapped in chrome.

I just found that there's a roll bar cloth cover, similar to what older Jeeps have from the factory. The only "bad" thing is that it doesn't cover up the front part of the roll bar (because of the side curtain airbags, I suppose). It's a nice option for those wanting to protect the roll bar paint with a less permanent solution.
