I received this from the 2024 Bronco salesman

"The Bronco you chose does have hail damage. Great news is we are discounting the vehicle from $57,795 to $54,995 and we are going to fix the hail for you. "

If I buy a "repaired" new vehicle will that affect me in any way down the road?
It looks like I'm being compensated for diminished value of a new car

It doesn’t seem like much of a discount. I would ask if the dealer is making a claim on the hail damage. E.g. will it show up on Carfax?

If the dealer only got light damage they may opt for PDR without a claim.

Seems to me, it’ll show on CarFax. Otherwise, they’d fix and sell as new.

Seems like a fair deal to me, discount plus it will be repaired. Can't see PDR affecting value unless not done correctly. I just had almost $7k in PDR done on my pickup due to hail, looks brand new again.

What's the invoice/sticker price? As others have said, if it's fixed properly, it won't matter, except that if you want to resell or trade, it will show on Carfax and affect the value to a new owner. I'd also want to know that the hood was replaced, not filled with "bondo" and repainted.

If it's on your CarFax it'll impact the trade in value but I wouldn't think more than what they are giving you for a discount.

It sounds like the damage is not fixed yet, check it out yourself. If the dents are small and can be fixed by PDR, you will never know it happened. I wouldn't hesitate to take the discount even if not that much. If the damage requires traditional body work, you need a far larger discount.

Most hail can be fixed by PDR, they massage the dents out there isn't any filling our paint involved. I wouldn't think PDR would show up on Carfax, but could be wrong.

If that is only $2,800 off the sticker, run. Plenty of better deals to be had on undamaged vehicles.

That discount is laughable. We get $6k off Kia's up here for hail damage. Not worth it as it will impact resale value considerably more than $2.7k. It matters not that it was repaired and more that it's going to show up on Carfax vs other Broncos that don't have hail damage which knocks you down several pegs. Before you drive off the lot you already have a strike on your Carfax report. Throw in an accident claim later if you are unlucky and your Bronco will be a tough sell on the market with hail and accident claims. Even if your vehicle is in good shape and well taken care of, when people see multiple claims on newish vehicles, the first thing that comes to mind is that the vehicle has been through hell.

I bought a hail special once, a black Mazda 3. They didn't fix the dents (they were too deep) and there were about six that were obvious if you looked. Got about $3k on a $20k car a decade ago. Living in Texas, everyone's got some hail damage on a car a few years old

If it was really heavy they had to replace windshields, etc, I would not take one of those without bigger discounting. If you go and look and can't really tell, then there you go. You can ask if it'll be reported to CarFax too. I would probably ask for another $3k off and negotiate from there. Keep in mind they might call you back later if you give them a lowball bid, if they can't move them.
