Took delivery yesterday. Woo-hoo.

I'm starting the install on the Turn reinforced spare tire carrier. If there is a way to get it wrong or break something I'll find it.

They casually disconnect the wires on the video. Mine seem to be welded shut.

What is the trick? Is that black on just a pull apart? I see that tab on the brown one--pry or push? Should I give it a squirt of WD40?

There should be tabs you can press with a pick or a genetic woman’s fingers. Sometimes these will have locks on them that you’ll need to first slide out of the way and then press the tab to release the connection. Displacement of water or lubricant isn’t necessary. Just keep looking at it and pressing things. You’ll figure it out.

Push the tabs Ducati pointed out but sometimes you need to push the connector tighter together while doing that then pull apart. I have trouble with them also. Arthritis from working with my hands all my life doesn’t help.

So far I've been able to get them apart (2 so far) but I've played hell trying to get them back together. I've put on a couple zip ties as insurance.

Put a little dielectric grease on the seals and that will act as a lube to make it easier to reconnect them.
