I wouldn't pay attention to the build dates listed, they are rarely correct for some reason it seems.

Run you VIN here and it should let you know if you have the recall or not:

Lets hope it stays that way.... Mine are holding on tight. I am going to guess that there is a automated mixing equipment the mixes the resin and hardener and dispenses through a gun on the build line for these hard tops...... for about a week or two that thing was not working correctly and no one noticed... so they recall a week ahead and the time of, when they thought it might have been down???? When and how did they catch it??? At some point someone got it fixed but by then a number of tops had made it through but they did not know how long it had been down or how many effected.

And then the tops that were effected still had time to get shipped and placed in production line at MAP so the "mishap" probably happened a couple weeks? before the Ford build dates in the recall.

I am thinking there are two distinct issues At play here:

For late 23 production of vehicles with MIC tops: someone did not apply the adhesive promoter to the MiC top before gluing on the rear quarter glass; and as a result there has been glass separation experienced, that is what the recall is trying to address.

For early 24 Heritage mod tops: the adhesive was mixed with the wrong sealing agent and as a result the quarter glass is detaching from the plastic handles that attach it to the top. No recall by Ford on those tops, but they can be easily fixed at local glass shops, by removing the faulty adhesive applying the right adhesive, letting it cure and re installing. A process that takes about 2 hours.

I guess I did not read in far enough... As I look back over, I think you are right, I am finally starting to see the two different issues... And here I was thinking it was all one issue.

I’m thinking you meant hardener and not sealing agent. Epoxies are a mix of resin and hardeners. They have to be mixed at the correct ratio or they don’t work to full expected design specifications.

We’ve seen similar issues for the brackets holding the gas pistons to the rear windows. Even the mounts for the rear view mirrors have had issues with falling off.

Yes, you are correct. It is the hardener, since the adhesive was demonstrably not hard.

I've read that the top lift pro can work with the 2 door if you're willing to slide the top back about 6 inches and then use the lift to remove and store the top. There's a used one selling locally to me and I'm thinking about grabbing it.
