They were built using Ultra4 spec Howe racks. No need to be bolt in when you just have Ford bypass all the nannies.

That Atterberry team I posted in your thread tell all about why they did what they did. Note: you might have to go back to last year when they were first building the car, it was Cyper Yellow back then.


Also forgot, I believe that "J-bar" he is talking about is similar to what Rock Krawler is doing.

Holy smokes! WOW.... I have never in my life experienced anything like this....

I was driving the bronco home today. There I am on a 5 lane road and coming up to cross a 5 lane highway... I cross it all the time. It is in good shape, has a few ruts. Always gives you some bumps going over. Hard suspensions you want to slow down and take at 25 to 30.... Speed limit is 40 (the road I am on) (highway is 55) I could see the light was going to change. I accelerated to about 50 entering the intersection just as the light turned yellow. I steeled my self for the ruts/bumps that are always there.... NOTHING.... A push up and then a drop.... Like a just paved 3 foot hill at 50....soft, controlled, like it had just been paved.... I am old, I have driven a lot of cars and trucks.... I have never had anything respond so easily. My wifes Merc is a nice firm but soft ride.... NOT like this.... WOW! I think I am going to be HAPPY!

That actually makes a hell of a lot more sense. as I was trying to figure out the "J" arm....... BUT shouldn't they get more rear articulation then... going from the 5 link to a 4 triangulated?

Yes, I believe that is the reason behind it.

Is the extra portal gearing backlash noticeable? (Gear play between drive and coast)

We had dual tcases on multiple Toyotas and the rock crawling could get a bit jerky going over certain rocks as the gears bounced from drive to coast.

Our Bronco is a manual which will make any gear play more noticeable rock crawling.

I do not have a lot of seat time with them yet but I have not noticed any lash issues with the portal gearing.... Have to admit I have been focused on dialing in my coil overs... But I do think that is something I would have noticed.

How's the rub on the tires? I need to order and still on the fence.
Went to finish this afternoon and found that I was shorted the banjo bolts for the rear brakes so order them and will have Monday, of course no one had local. Hope to put her in her tires Monday night or Tuesday at the latest.
Did you get the front end alignment yet?

Went to finish this afternoon and found that I was shorted the banjo bolts for the rear brakes so order them and will have Monday, of course no one had local. Hope to put her in her tires Monday night or Tuesday at the latest.
Did you get the front end alignment yet?

Yes front end is aligned.... Was pretty close on the guess work but a real alignment made a really nice difference. I have only an road miles so far... only about 80.... I have experienced NO rub other than a small reversing flex that just barley caught the front of my capable bumper in the parking lot of the tire store.

I have a long way to go checking full clearance but I am good on the road. been playing with my coil over settings trying to dial in ride.... The Kings have 28 click points.... I am at 17 front and 12 rear right now and still refining when I get the chance.. (higher number = stiffer)

Everything is lit up... it is sensing wheel slippage I think. No ABS No 4 wheel drive....No cruse control.... no emergency brake. I am guessing it has to do with the wheel speed sensors and the regear and tire size.
