Just told the wife how everyone is getting their portals. She asked, well how much are they? I proudly said $20k. At that point she rolled her eyes and said you're getting a hard top in 10 days, are we never going to be finished? o_O

So I got the whole kit installed! Unfortunately my 40s are in my trailer (I got sick of tripping over them), and the trailer is snowed in 🤬. Gonna need some thaw to even get into it! Drove it on the 37s and all seems fine, except I think I may have a bad throttle body...happened to me once before in this kinda weather, goes into limp randomly.

Bleeding the brakes is a fun adventure! But other than that this kit more or less falls right together! Really impressed w/the quality of everything included! Even fluid, but if I read the instructions correctly the last page says "new portals: purchase low end gear oil from your local parts store, drive on this oil for 200 miles, then drain and fill w/maxima pro gear". I took this to mean just run some 80w90 conventional gear oil for 200 miles? That's what I put in em anyway.

Got the brake hoses situated a little neater...just gotta play with them a little. The rear one can be zip tied tight to the parking brake motor to keep it pretty much out of harms way! Fronts are pretty easy.

5 gal bucket pics by special request @BAUS67

God them things are BEAUTIFUL!!!!

Question, Did you get it machined for double shear. I see a slot and 4 bolt holes above the outer tie rod mount. I thought I saw when you did that Quinn machines the hole, in the OTR mount, to straight through. Meaning you can't use the stock outer tie rod that use a tapered hole. Or do I have that wrong.

Love the bucket shots!!!! I agree with Snack we need some side shots. Also need a good shot down the body line so we can see just how much poke past those Squatch flares.

I'm a little embarrassed to admit it, but more than once on Jeeps and Chevy pickups I've put the caliper brackets on the wrong side when putting all new brake systems on, and not discovered the error until I went to bleed the brakes, that's possible BECAUSE they are mirror images that can swapped side to side if you do the bracket and caliper as a unit. I'm not saying it's possible or practical in this case, just asking if anyone has even checked the possibility.
I believe the "bracket" is the portal itself.

but to answer your question... I have not. I will look at it though.

The wiring for the e brake may be a problem.

Unless I'm mistaken, it appears that the common theme among portal owners is to retain use of the OEM struts. In many cases, the OEM Fox struts.

HOSS suspension with 38's and portals would be a dream set-up for me. You could run over a Fiat and not even know it.
Actually there are several that are currently on or are going to coil overs....

I have heard Icons and Foxes... I have Kings in waiting.

Probably was working 10 times faster than normal and with all of the euphoric emotion pulsing all day long... You are probably right!

In regards to the brake calipers, I'm sure if it was possible or easy it would have been in the instructions, but has anyone looked at swapping them side to side to get the bleeder back on top instead of on the bottom?
bleeder is at the top, but the whole caliper is upside down!

He has them all drilled and tapped for the double shear brackets if you decide to go that way, you just add the brackets. All the taper holes have press fit bronze inserts, so they can be changed w/a straight one (or drilled i guess?)
