Take from a guy who kicked a whole 'lotta gears in Fox bodies, these new fly by wire setups make it darn near impossible to "feather" the throttle like the old days of cable operated throttle. At least that I have found. I have always tended to "two foot" it while driving off road. It preloads the suspension, easier on parts and keeps the "lurching" to a minimum. The problem I found out, quite quickly, it is hard to "foot brake" the Bronc. I get a warning on the screen about power reduced due to brake being applied. So the first thing I found is those of us with 2.7s have this thing called Trail one pedal. In 4H or 4L. same button as Trail Control (trail cruise control) you will see a foot on a pedal indicator on the IP. This feature mimics your foot on the brake pedal all you need to do is modulate the throttle. Keeps that lurching to a min. Push on the gas slowly and the Bronc creeps forward. As soon as you leave off it will slow to a stop. Quite a nice feature, to me a two foot off roader.

I believe if you defeat the TC(by holding the button for 5 seconds) you may be able to "two foot" the Bronc then. How else do I see people power braking it to burn rubber. or give it the 4 wheel drift. Thats something I'll try later. For now, the Trail One Pedal works for me.
Two footing is what I do on the big obstacles.

I had the JB4 for a little while before the FP tune. The JB4 made quite a difference, but to be honest I didn’t notice too much of a difference after adding the FP tune in addition. Really the only reason I wanted it at that point was for the transmission tuning, which was great. I was curious if it would be too much also at the time, but I closely monitored A/F and some other PIDs for a while after and it’s perfectly safe.

Thanks for the feedback. I used to own a JB4 and I would probably compare the FP Tune to Map 1 or 2 on the JB4. Map 3 pulled harder. Anyway, I ultimately sold the JB4 because I could never get Map 4/5 working consistently with E30. Also, engaged the safeties with it one time and it left a bad taste in my mouth.

Have you tried using the Trail One Pedal at all???

What mode do you use the most????? Do you use 4H or 4A????

Love this thread. Just received the FP tune, waiting for the dealer to confirm install date. Useful info and vids 🙏

Try the Pedal Commander, It takes the pedal lag out of street driving in numerous settings and also can feather the throttle in numerous settings from quick to slow for off road, adjustable at the dash real time.

Bronco6G friends,

Some of you may have seen me post 0-60 & 1/8 mile times throughout this forum, but figured I would start my own thread. Wanted to have a place to post my ongoing results as I add more performance mods to my Bronco. Why do this? I mean, it's an off-road vehicle, not a drag car; right? Well...I do it because It's fun and I enjoy seeing what I can eke out of this platform and the little 2.7L engine. I’m all about making a quick off-roader :)

My Bronco is a 2022 Big Bend Sasquatch 4DR Soft Top with the mid package. It has the modular front bumper, added factory skids plates, NFab rock sliders, and ACFab shock skids. In a nutshell, I have no plans to make my Bronco lightweight as I do wheel the vehicle and put the added protection to use.

View attachment 596214

Here are my current performance modifications:

  • Ford Performance ProCal Tune
  • S&B drop-in high flow air filter
  • 93 Octane (Also, E30 when I feel like it)

Future Performance mods wishlist:

  • Injen cold air intake (Coming soon)
  • Intercooler (CVF or similar)
  • Turbosmart BOV (Plumb back)
  • Exhaust (Leaning towards MBRP 3" catback)
  • Charge pipes (Injen or waiting for CVF)
  • Short term Tune (Livernois or International Dyno Authority)
  • Long term Tune (ZFG or similar)

With just the S&B air filter and using 88(E15) or 93 octane I would consistently hit 0-60 in the 6.5-6.7 sec range. When I added 6 gallons of E85 for a E30-ish mix, I would drop down to 6.3s and 1/8 mile in 9.46s (would be closer to 9.39-9.40, but let off too early)

9.46.jpg

Today I installed my Ford ProCal device and managed to drop my 0-60 to 5.69s. This was with 93 octane. I also did the 1/8th in 8.99s and 60 ft in 1.95s (Faster than my old 93 Mustang 5.0 w/FBO 😁)

The Bronco now wheel hops off the line in 4A...wasn't expecting that.

All runs done in Sport mode + 4A + TC off + 2nd gear launch.

5.69.jpg
8.99.jpg

Next up, I plan to install the Injen CAI and then E30 mix.

I have Palm Beach Dyno in my sights :)

They were able to achieve 0-60 in 5.34s. This was in a 2021 WT with the top and doors removed + JB4 @ Map 4 with E30 + Exhaust

Injen cold air Intake installed. Haven’t logged any runs yet as I need to put some miles on her. Wouldn't say it was a "fun" install, but not too bad. I got this CAI scratch & dent/open box on eBay $269. Has some scratches here and there, but works great

The intake sounds really good. Lots of turbo whistling and you can hear the BOV as well. Subjectively it pulls harder vs. the S&B drop-In filter, but the data will confirm.

Also, my plan is to record Dragy videos along with screenshots. Can’t guarantee it will happen every time, but I’ll do what I can.

Here’s an example of what I’m talking about. I recorded this a day ago and the road was slightly downhill, so the results are invalid.

I'm hoping someone makes a replacement for this elbow that is sold either on it's own or with a high flow filter. I watched a video of the airbox replacement an it looked to me like much of the improvement could probably be achieved with just a smooth flowing tube in place of that accordion hose.

So you're the one that got that intake off Ebay! I was messaging the seller to see if he had any pictures of the parts to make sure everything was there and next thing you know, the auction was ended!

Are those actual flaps sticking inside that passenger side elbow? It looks like they are intentional to reduce noise or something. Is there anything like that inside the driver's side elbow?

:) I asked the seller the same question. He said everything was there, but it was not. The box was missing the PCV removal tool, which is a vital for the install. I ordered one from Injen for $15 shipped. I reached out to the eBay seller and they refunded me the same amount, so it all worked out in the end. Just took me another week to do the install. You can now find them in the low $340 range, so probably wasn't worth the trouble to save a few bucks.

Yes, those are flaps. I'm not sure of the purpose, but might be to reduce turbo noise like you mentioned. The drivers side elbow does not have the same flaps. It's pretty smooth in comparison.

Video from PBD showing how they achieved their 5.3s run.

You've got me super curious what I can get out of my 2.3 7MT Badlands.

I was very much in the "Fun, not fast" camp until I installed the Ford tune, any my entire driving style changed. Did the Steeda BOV adapter just got juvenile fun noise, but CAI and exhaust are in my sights.

Not far from you in Chapel Hill either.
