Aftermarket slide out tailgate??

Does anyone know if any companies are working on a slide out tailgate? Been trying to hold off from buying Fords $1400 version. Been contemplating making my own but would want to make it would of metal and not wood.

$1400 is steep, need to be used as step to access roof rack if a Mabett were to manufacture. @Mabett

Yes, that's where my ARB compressor lives. I'm able to store a 25' air hose coiled there and eventually should have a kicker key 500.1 amp there as well.

Hang out and sit on it, keep stuff on it while I'm at the trap club, level the rear floor, use as a workbench or table.

2. Tailgating
3. Evens out the backseat when folded down
4. Work table

Got mine earlier in the year when Ford Accessories was running a 30% off deal, as Sorle pointed out it's great for tailgating, makes a nice bench and work table and one of the things I really like is how it evens the floor out when the seats are down. It's a nice sturdy piece of kit.
