I've looked around some but just wondering what everyone likes best and prefers. Also, should I try to install it myself or get it done at a dealer. Thanks!

I installed the the Pulsar XT Control Module. After I installed it, I couldn't believe the difference it made in petformance (up to 55hp). It's comparative in price, simple to install, packed with features and a snap to remove for warranty work. The Ford Performance one won't be the most horsepower, but it's probably the only one that retains factory warranty support and doesn't break extended warranties -- if you have it installed by a ASE mechanic -- although it's easy enough to do it yourself so long as you have a laptop handy.
Got the FP tune installed a week ago. Drove easy a few days to let the trans adjust. We just got home from our 1600 mile round trip to Georgia. What a difference. The trans shifting was awesome. Low end and mid power was noticably more responsive. Passing on the highway is crazy better. Fuel economy is about the same. Keeping warranties intact is priceless.I've looked around some but just wondering what everyone likes best and prefers. Also, should I try to install it myself or get it done at a dealer. Thanks!
Not that every dealer will go through the trouble (unless they suspect something), but once you remove a tune, isn’t there something stored in the computers indicating that there had been a previous modification?I installed the the Pulsar XT Control Module. The FP tune would leave evidence for the dealer to find, should something happen. What hes talking about would not as it doesn't actually reflash the pcm.Not that every dealer will go through the trouble (unless they suspect something), but once you remove a tune, isn’t there something stored in the computers indicating that there had been a previous modification?
There is one tell-tale: the ASS remembers its last position on power cycle. There are no red flags, no toggle switch to check for tune, no drop down menu with tune checker icon...NOTHING!
True! but will the tech know that? There is one tell-tale: the ASS remembers its last position on power cycle.
That said - yeah, unless it’s an issue that could be related to a tune, they probably aren’t going to bother even looking, and for the FP, unless you leave the dongle hooked up to look at it’s awesome graphics (ha) there isn’t a lot there to really tip anyone off unless they want to go digging
So goes Livernois who ford got the tuning from for their tune. It costs more than the FP tune but will also allow for custom tunes. There are several others on the way as well. The Whipple and Ford Performance tunes are the only ones that address the transmission. In my opinion the transmission part of the tune is what the truck needs the most. It was night and day better shifting and pedal feel after I installed the Whipple on mine.
2.3L engine? Are you required to use premium fuel after the tune?Got the FP tune installed a week ago. Drove easy a few days to let the trans adjust.
