Just starting a thread for comments and ideas for Raptor winch solutions. I’m hoping that the folks in the build queue have some success stories once your baby gets delivered.

My short term working theory for a near term solution, that solves some problems in existing Bronco and appears to be likely to work on a Raptor is a JCR Winch plate with camera relocation bracket.

It’s designed for mod bumper, has parking sensor mounts, relocation bracket gets the camera in front of the winch for unobstructed view. I don’t think it’ll conflict with anything as it sits up out in front.

Hidden mounts and new bumpers seem to pose all sorts of potential challenges and trade-offs I think. And after market may not make Raptor solutions a high priority due to low volumes

Thoughts?

I too have been trying to figure out a winch solution. My concern is finding a bumper/winch combination that would fit with the front skid plate. Not sure if the raptors skid plate mounts the same as a regular bronco.

I m having the same concerns, there’s just too many in with a full bumper at this point. The winch plate looks like a pretty low risk install, but I don’t love it. That said, I’m only out the cost of a winch plate if something gets built Bronco Raptor specific (and assuming I like it) plus install will be easier with the camera and sensors are already stripped out of the grill assembly.

Sales Manager at my dealer said ADD was working on something for what that’s worth. OTW I’m guessing there won’t be a lot of motivation in aftermarket to make specific bumpers for a couple thousand Braptors quickly.

Hope I’m wrong or, better, the existing Bronco bumper options will be plug and play.

Good luck!

I too am going to be needing to install a winch on my Raptor. JCR mounting plate looks like it may work. If it does, I think it would be a good way to go.

Are you going with 10 or 12K winch? Trying to decide, but leaning 12K as Raptor is over 5000 pounds. Synthetic line is a must. Trying to Decide EVO or Zeon.

Asked JCR directly regarding fit on Raptor, to which they replied something like “there basically the same parts it looks like the winch plate should work”. Not super definitive as I came to the conclusion that it SHOULD work myself.

I’m going for Zeon 12 S. Vehicle Weight especially loaded drives me to the 12 as a given, synthetic is just easier and lighter and my truck will be garaged when not driven (not exposed to UV), and Zeon because I’m paranoid. I think the Evo would be more than fine for the number of times I expect to be winching initially, but I’ll spend the money just in case

I’ve been also thinking through lighting on another thread, basically understanding what I’ll have to do to change the rigid off road lights off the Aux1 (only large amp circuit) to accommodate a light bar. Seems pretty straightforward, but I regret saying those words often.

Any thoughts on lighting?

I think the JCR solution is the best one as it is a bolt-on to the mod bumper

I did a factory tour the week before the Raptor was released to ship. They had hundreds lined up and ready to ship.

We crawled in and around the Raptor to see what parts should fit and which might not.

The front mod bumper is the same as the rest of production mod bumpers, just two-tone color. The front lower skid looked like the bash plates on previous models as well.

I hope JCR is correct. Would love some one to test it. More I think about it, this would let me keep the factory lights.

Both my brothers who are big time into the jeep and rock crawling say get a Zeon if you can afford it. They both have only 10K winches. Last time I rode with my brother his was used 4 times. I will have to get a cover to keep the synthetic rope out of the sun. My garage is to full of motorcycles and a Grand Sport to get the Raptor in.

I'm reading up on the Differences between the ZEON Platinum and the ZEON. Leaning to the regular ZEON and adding a remote if I decide I want one. I'll watch for sales.

That is a shame the only high amp circuit is used on the Factory aux lights. I'm initially looking at Diode dynamics up by the mirrors. Everyone I have talked to says light bars up on top of the windshield make noise.

I hope your right. When I get my Raptor I hope to find Bronco with a Mod front bumper to measure bolt spacing on the skid plate.

They didn’t make a special bumper for just the raptor. That’s not a major manufacturers play.

True, but the skid plate is what I am questioning. Raptor does have lots of frame changes, so not sure on skid plate.

That said I under stand the parking sensor get moved to your winch mount. Also understand you have a camera relocation kit. What about for the adaptive cruise?

Will any of the warn 10K or 12K winch work with your plate?

Hopefully JCR will chime in, by either Warn winch (any standard mount) will wok they have cutouts for center (2) parking sensors relocation to the plate, they have a camera relocation bracket and harness extension that mounts on the winch fairlead.

I’ve seen them recommend the ADD ACC relocation kit initially, but it seems like maybe it just works as is with the winch plate. You’ll have to verify that, I’ve ordered without ACC so it’s not a concern for me.

They have great installation videos for the plate and camera relocation bracket. That will answer a lot of questions. Video at bottom of this link.

I have watched the video for the winch plate and the one for the camera. They appear pretty straight forward. Parking sensor also seem pretty straight forward to move and install.

I watched the video for the ACC relocation when using their bumper. I do not see any mention for relocating the ACC when using their winch plate. Rereading the features of the mounting plate it clearly states ACC works with it.

More reading, using the standard of 1.5 times GVWR a 12K winch is the recommendation as GVWR for the Raptor is 6850.

ACC works as is, no changes needed.
Both 10 or 12 warn Zeon works.
