Left side speakers not working...I messed up

Soooo, I replaced the 4 front speakers in my bronco and thought I did a nice job but suddenly the front left speakers had no sound. Right side and both rear speakers work. I removed all the plastic pieces to investigate and realized that when i put everything back together the wires from the kick panel speakers were wrapped around the screw from the dead pedal. I assume this blew a fuse, but I really have no clue what to do at this point. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks all.

So did you check for blown fuses? Sounds like it shorted. Follow that wire ..It may have damaged the speakers themselves. Try switching with known good speaker to iliminate that possibility. Another possibility if it was shorted is damage to head unit but I wouldnt think so,hopefully. Just be sure nothing else is shorting because anything you reconnect could possibly be damaged too.

Well I would check then for a blown fuse.

I'm fairly certain there isn't separate fuses for left and right channels.

Thanks. I did reconnect the old speaker and that was not working either. The head unit works because the other speakers all work and sound fine.

Thanks. I don't think there is either. I looked in the manual and couldn't find a fuse for speakers in general.

But if you're getting any audio at all, I doubt it's the ACM fuse.

Nope, but the manual lies and says it is. (lol)

Pull down the panel that's located under the steering wheel (the bottom most panel), it hinges from the bottom so pull *gently* from the top out towards you.

Should I assume neither kick panel or dash speaker is working? If that is the case you may have shorted amp section of channel. Some times they have internal fuses for clumsy people like us; more than likely none. You just maybe dead in the water.

Have you corrected the crimped wire? The kick panel speaker is wired in series with the dash so if the wire is buggered, neither will work.

Amazingly I think it's working. Thanks for all your help. I wanted to make sure the speaker wasn't blown so I uninstalled it and connected it to the side that was working and it worked. That had me more worried, so I closed up the passenger side and reinstalled the speaker on the driver side...I turned the radio on and sure enough it all worked. Not sure why but I'll take the win. I learned a few things, one of which is where the fuse box is. thanks for all the quick replies...you are an amazing community. Up until I got my Bronco this past winter I never did anything with cars, but I've been learning a ton and trying to do my own upgrades and having this forum is a huge help. Thanks!

FYI, shorting your speaker wires won’t blow your speakers.
