Windshield protection

Likewise. No problem with rocks, debris, or bugs. I'd love to see an airflow diagram of how this thing actually works. It's kept everything off, except for bugs on I-35 in Kansas on a hot summer night.

I installed it myself, and followed the instructions very carefully, including a final cleaning of the paint surface with isopropyl alcohol. It's on good and tight, except....the edge facing the windshield (the edge I see through my windshield) has lifted up about 1/4 inch. Water gets down there, under the aeroskin, dirt and debris I have no doubt, and now maple spinners.

Has anybody else had this problem?
If so, do you have a remedy to share?

I was thinking of just getting some Gorilla glue, inject it down under the aeroskin, and then clamping it down very carefully with furniture clamps.

Please “do not” use Gorilla Glue. You will wreck the paint on your hood. Best bet would be to remove the deflector, give both the hood surface and deflector.
a good cleaning with a soft cloth. Once cleaned replace the two sided tape . I would leave the vehicle and the deflector in the sun for a few hours. Once every is warmed up and “pliable” re install the deflector. It may be an arduous task but should result in a job well done.
My son and I installed a factory deflector on his Edge Sport and made the mistake of not warming everything up and the deflector lifted in the topside. Also, shop around for good two sided tape. Gorilla two sided clear mounting tape would probably work. Amazon has it fairly cheaply as well other brands.

It's getting cold in my latitude, so that looks like an afternoon project for an early spring day next year.

I've replaced one windshield so far and my deductible is $50. So far = 3 months of owning a Bronco. 4 windshields a year = $200. At this rate the $300 protection would pay for itself in 21 months (7 replacements). I'm going to roll the dice that I won't continue at the rate of one windshield every 3 months.

Did you consider the increase in your premiums over the next five years in your cost benefit analysis?

Two weeks after replacing a windshield, my premium DECREASED by $80 a year. That works out to a windshield replacement deductible and-a-half (and $5 in my pocket) every year.

If you received your renewal (with a premium decrease) two weeks after the windshield repair, I guarantee that the windshield replacement was not yet factored in.
Depending on the state, renewals are generated well ahead. It is possible and entirely likely that the billing and payment for your windshield had not completely flowed through the system.

Now some carriers will waive the first claim, and if that's your case you may not see an increase. However, if you have more than one claim and you are now putting in another claim, even if it's only for glass. You will probably see some hike in your premium. The amount depends on the carrier.

I just heard the same thing about 30 minutes ago from my local shop. They also said in areas that get high rain that it will with in time create streaks that are horrible to see through.

It wasn't a renewal, just a reduction in premium. My next renewal is June 2026. I'll have to update my cost benefit analysis if information changes.
