Does anyone out there know of some sort of windshield protection to protect against stone chips? If there is a product I’m sure it’s not very lasting due to the wipers.

OK, you've not been here long...so some mercy! Search on WINDSHIELDS for cryin' out loud, Exoshield...and you'll find plenty. They do last and do work.

I have the Exoshield on the Bronco, and it has saved the windshield. However, sometimes in the sunlight it shines with reflection. If you are on the road a lot, I would do it, but mine is now mostly off road, and I am thinking of taking it off.

What the hell is Exoshield??
Look it up, there is another brand called window skin. Both are 8mm thick, but when I inquired about it at a tint installer they said exterior window protection is a waste of money because it hasn’t been perfected to last. To me it still seems like a worth while investment anyway.

Everyone says "I don't tailgate!" but their front end tells a different story haha

That’s not my cup of tea. I stay away from “all” dump trucks and despise tail gaters when they run up on me. FYI my OBX Sasquatch is being delivered this week and read these horror stories in the forum of cracked and chipped windshields. I’m being “preemptive” to assure it doesn’t happen to mine, although it will mostly be a “hanger queen” due to the fact my other ride is a 2022 Maverick XLT.

I just heard the same thing about 30 minutes ago from my local shop. They also said in areas that get high rain that it will with in time create streaks that are horrible to see through.

Of course it's not going to last. It is meant to be sacrificial to protect your windshield. No different than PPF, except the windshield film gets more abuse. Not just from rock chips, but from the constant rubbing when you have your wipers on.

The idea is that it's cheaper to peel off and reapply the film every couple of years, versus a couple of windshields over that same time along with the hassle that goes with it.

I have the STEK (DynoTop) on my Bronco that was installed by our shop this past spring. I am more of a guinea pig to see how it performs before we start offering it to our customers (Our shop also does PPF and I have a full body wrap, minus the hard top, on my Bronco using STEK Dynoshield). Since it's only been a few months I really can't give an opinion one way or another yet. I do know that I did take a hit not long ago that left a small mark on the film, but I can't tell you whether it was hard enough to chip or crack the glass.

It's supposed to be hydrophobic (like RainX), but I am still getting some wiper chatter when the wipers are on continuously. I apply RainX on the film which helps for a while, but I have to reapply it regularly.

I'll be better position to provide my thoughts after a Michigan winter.

I had exoshield on mine for 2.5 years before I started seeing streaks. Saved my windshield for many large rocks. I did get a few small chips. It kept it from spreading. I finally removed it at about the 3.5 year mark because the stalls were getting too bad in the sun. Yes you read that right. 3.5 years. 21 Bronco abs i still have the original windshield. When I replace it i will put it on again.

+1 for Exoshield. I think I paid around $300 for it and it's saved me already within the first few months. I definitely recommend it.

I leave a country mile between myself and the next vehicle. The problem really only occurs when some bum decides to wedge in and slam their brakes. The worst offenders for this are usually Altimas, but the dumb "stance-trucks" (dumb offset wheels and exposed rubber-band tires on a pickup truck) are awful for slinging rocks in the air. I avoid them as much as possible.

I'm going on 3 years with my Bronco and I still have the original glass.

“8mm thick”?!?!?! 🤣🤣🤣 As my 7th grade math teacher Mrs. Seidenberg pounded into our heads, “cows, pigs, or horses?! UNITS MATTER!!!” Exoshield is NOT 8mm thick, it’s “8-mil” thick. A “mil” is 0.001” or “a thousandth if an inch”. A “mm” is just a bit less than 40 thousandths, 0.040”. So “8-mil” is WAY mess than “8mm” (roughly 320-mil or 0.320”).

I have Exoshield on my Badlands. It was a pain to install but has probably saved me from having to put another windshield in. I lost my 1st 15 months after buying, then put Exoshield on after the new glass was put in. It has some visual imperfections due to my install issues but it’s good enough for me.
