Well, that was the thinking behind my build, which is lighter than the WildTrak, and I would argue that my slightly modified Bronco OBX certainly can do it as well (if not better than the WildTrak).

I can't think of any limitations my non-sasquatch OBX has over 20 MPH that would make the WildTrak the better choice?

Still, not throwing any shade, I think that he should be happy with his choices. I say this with a 22.5 WildTrak Hoss 3.0 on order.
Mostly tires. The wider tires would provide a better/wider base, the Baja mode would definitely be an improvement on a dirt road, the 4.73 gears would be more conducive. The Sas suspension and shocks would definitely aide performance at any speed. And the blacked out pkg and stickers would definitely make it faster. 😀

They’re almost identical…..trying to think of what could possibly make the OBX lighter after the OBX is built to match the WT with the same engine, tranny, tires, suspension and bumpers?
I don't have the sasquatch, so running the M190 front axle and the 33.5 inch tires on non-beadlock rims saves a few more pounds. The non-sasquatch Badlands Bilsteins have the same capability with a little more articulation as the sasquatch package. It's not a lot of weight, just a few pounds. Above 20 MPH the front locker on the WildTrak is not locked. And as you know, my OBX has Baja mode with the 4.27 gears.

Did my best to black it out... LOL.

Had a similar feeling taking my rig out earlier this week! I’m new to this off-roading business but was still impressed with the capabilities! I’m rolling around in a black diamond, but either way the joy of being able to utilize your purchase for it’s intended use is awesome.
Glad you’re enjoying it!

Absent the entire story, it appears I was making a case against the wrong builds. I concede…as I’m not sure if I’m comparing an apples to apples OBX vs a WT, or a slightly modded OBX or a
Non-Sasquatch Badlands….But yes, it is sufficiently blacked out to make it fast. And it is beautiful.

It's a slightly modified OBX (rims, tires, FORSCAN) with a Badlands suspension. Although I plan on putting an LSD into the M190, I have not put the Eaton LSD in the front axle yet. Hopefully that helps.

Funny to read the comments. I agree that the Wildtrak is great on dirt, even washboard roads. I am sure the other models are good too. Not sure if you were in Sport mode, but it is pretty awesome. My only problem is the rocks thrown against the side of my rig. Installing my Rock Slide Engineering steps this weekend.

I may test an assumption and just do a B6G post that says, "Iconic Silver" or "Automatic" or even "Hotdog". Just to see how much drama, hate, angst or self-righteous engagement that generates. 🙂

I also went with 2D WT for the same reasons as the OP and am totally happy with my decision, my Bronco will rarely see any rocks but should be fine when it does. Sway bar disconnect would be just something else to possibly fail and need a fix.

OP - 2D WT in Albuquerque!!! I have yet to see another 2D (of any trim) on the road since I got mine in December, good to know you're out there. 👍

I agree with OP. This thread is exhausting.

Or perhaps just leave off "I was validated chosing WT" from your OP, thus inviting the comparisons.

It really amazes me all you were doing was saying you were validated in YOUR choice and every @sshat has to chime in and tell you why you are wrong.

I sincerely hope everyone feels validated by their model purchased. Can’t wait to see the flames come out when they release new models and again it’ll be “mine is better” and “this is the true Bronco because xxxx”

Badlands even without Sasquatch has the Hoss 2.0 suspension standard just with 33" tires. So as many have said. A WildTrak with Hoss 3.0 would be a performance difference. Still... glad you enjoyed your bronco and the high-speed dirt road!
Badlands 2.7 with forscan unlocking sport mode is the ultimate trim. No one can say different
