Wildtrack is a Base with big screen and stickers.
Interesting comment coming from someone who has a First Edition? Is a FE a Base with a big screen and even fancier stickers?

2DR WT 2.7- For me- knowing the pragmatic utilization of this vehicle, knowing l may never use it for Rock Crawlling I opted for the WT. The rig is capable and if I get myself into a bad situation or want to explore, I won't be worrried, but this weekend I was validated chosing WT.

In short, there is a road from my cabin back home that is rarely traveled becuase about 20 miles of it is dirt though the mountains. As the crow flies, it is shorter, but because it is dirt, it is a big negative for most folks but I decided to drive it last weekend to see for myself.

In short, what is generally a 2.5 (best case)- 3 hour drive back home was reduced to 2 hrs. While not made for crawling, towing or excellent gas mileage, the Wildtrak excelled on a dirt road at 50-60+ MPH. Super stable, predictable, planted and fun. In reality, I am way more likely to take a dirt road to a random ghost town vs. seek out a technical obstacle requiring "crawl mode". In short...........fun and impressive.
Bump up those numbers to 80mph and you may be able to cut another 30 min off!

WT vs. BL
  • Under armor on the BL adds some weight and lowers the CG. This adds a bit of stability at the expense of agility.
  • WT can come with Hoss 3.0.
  • BL can come with a wash-out interior.
  • There was a constraint for MY21 where BL could come with a MT, I4, non-sasquatch and hence a roof rack but WT could not. The MY22 WT can have a roof rack though. Frankly I'm disappointed that I couldn't also get Sasquatch with the rest of my build but it wasn't possible in '21.
For the OP's purpose of running fast on dirt roads (presumably with lots of ruts), the WT is probably the best, cheapest way to meet his list of requirements if what he wants also includes leather, sasquatch, lux and 2.7. For me, I wanted something better-suited for getting muddy (MGV and rubber floor), with a rack, 4 doors and the biggest stock tires available in '21 so a BL was the best option at the time for me.

Needs vary. No big deal.

No, it's First Base with a big screen and even fancier stickers!

Seriously though, I don't see a point in arguing with people about whose build is "better". There are a lot of builds that wouldn't meet my needs. That doesn't make mine "better", as I don't have Sasquatch nor a 2.7. But it is better for me. So as long as (general) you get what's best for you, that's what matters.

True ...it's like me arguing with myself about my rock crawler EB not doing well on high-speed off road stuff then my kid yelling at me cause he has a Bronco II that has 4 wheel drive..

Based on what exactly?

...........everyone has their need, want, budget, plan, I'd argue the build you get, you pay for, you plan to use is superior to another persons.

Based on capability. Having additional capability isn’t a bad thing. Having a 58k desert runner that can’t crawl on some rocks is concerning. I have a 52k rock crawler that also is a desert runner. What is your argument? Lol
