after careful consideration, I went with the nitto trail grapplers, I like the aggressive tread. They are fairly loud ( no surprise ) and they rub a little on the upper control arm when cranked all the way over due to the aggressive sidewall tread. They're also fairly heavy at 87 lbs so I have to keep an eye on the tailgate, but no issues so far.
I also noticed a subtle pull on the steering wheel when the suspension is flexed. I think this is due to how the tread is contacting the road surface, it's a little more rounded than the bfg.
my speedo was 1-2 under with the BFGs but is now spot on.

If you want a great tire that is cheap, wider than almost any 37 inch D load tire, while weighing 82.6lbs, then you have to go with the Maxxis Razr MTs in 37x13.50r17. They are very beefy and measure 14.4" wide when mounted on 11 inch wheel. I would go with these tires on a 17x9 wheel with a -12mm offset, a proper coilover lift kit, beefed up steering rack and tie rods, new RCV axles, and a JKS clearance kit. On a 9 inch wide wheel you will lose some width by about 0.2 inches for every 0.5 inches of decreased wheel width, so if 11 inch wheel was 14.4 wide, 9 inch wheel will be 13.6 wide.
