I'm looking to go up in tire size, probably 37's once i lift my bronco. I'm also looking to get new wheels. I'm wondering if a negative, positive or 0 offset will be best to prevent rubbing on the rear part of the wheel well liner. all help is appreciated

I don't think there is a true definitive answer to that question. A lot of it depends on your exactly lift and tires you go with. A lot of people claim they have no rubbing, but they've also never completely flexed out their suspension before.

I will say the majority of folks going 37s have 0 offset or less. (And most people going 37s are also doing some minor trimming.)

But if someone has an actual definitive answer, wouldn't mind hearing it.

Somewhere between +15mm & -15mm…most folks split the difference at 0…but that is only the beginning of preventing rubbing…

Zero is a good start. If you want no rubbing be prepared to trim some metal and plastic.

At least two options are known to work well. Note that the second option fully eliminates the feature intended to prevent fatalities in small offset (SORB) collision.
  • 17x8.5+12 (or OEM sasquatch wheel with 0.75" forged spacer) with smaller 37x12.50 such as BFG KO2/KM3 (must trim corners of 4 crash bar stubs). This setup typically has no issue with rear part of front well liner.
  • 17x8.5+0 aftermarket wheel 37x12.50 and Fox/JKS Kit (must cut off crash bar stubs, cut off the frame SORB gusset, install frame bracket, and replace liner spacer)

When I first saw the title of the post my initial response was "don't dance so close". Not sure about it and tire size.

Very informative thread for those of us still educating themselves.

Haven’t taken delivery quite yet ( Badlands no SAS ) but initial plans are to run:

Fox 2.5
35” x 11.5 / 12.5
Relation Race wheels …. Believe the offer 0 & -12 options

Thoughts on the offset?

So if you are doing a 37x13.50r17 or 38x13.50r17 tire upgrade over a stock Sasquatch Badlands, is it better to have a 0mm offset or a +12mm offset wheel? At first I thought 0mm is better for a 13.50 width tire, but after doing some research it seems +12mm might possibly be better for a 13.50 width tire over the 12.50 width tire. This may seem a little counterintuitive at first but that's what I read online and some lift kit manufacturers also recommend +18mm offset when running 37s/38s by 12.50 width, so I figured 13.50 width would be ok with 12mm offset. Of course all this assumes you have some appropriate aftermarket lift kit to accommodate 37s/38s. I am still not 100% sure between 0mm and +12mm as I have seen conflicting opinions. Please help as I am a newbie in this space and dont want to make a mistake and have to return the wheels after ordering them. I really do like the look of the 13.50 width over the 12.50 width.

Watch this vid. Yes, it's about toyotas but the same concepts apply. It may be possible to fit a larger tire by using a wheel with a positive offset than you could with a more negative offset. The negative offset pushes the tire closer to things while turning.

I actually already saw this video and thought it was interesting; however, he is also using a 11.50 wide tire not 13.50 wide that I plan to use. I think what he is saying is going too much in the negative offset direction doesnt always mean better clearnace when turning and I am not 100% sure what the happy medium is especially if I go with a 17x9 wheel to properly fit those 13.50s. My assumption is I should be ok anywhere between 0mm and +12mm wheel offset. Going too much negative with 13.50 can be an issue when turning inside the wheel well but being too close can also be an issue. I dont even have a great practical pitch for 13.50s besides the fact I like the look lol. Thanks for sharing, this guy has an amazing channel.

0mm if you want 13.5" wide tires.
I AM PLANNING ON DOING Nitto Trail Grapplers in 38X13.50r17 size and I plan on getting the $5300 Readylift 3.5 inch lift kit that comes with Falcon shocks. The Readylift site claims you can run 38X12.50r17 with this kit with a +18mm offset wheel; however, the tire I want to run is a 13.50 width not 12.50. I still plan on doing a 38 tire just a bit wider. What wheel offset should I get when running the 38x13.50r17s? Is it still recommended to do a 0mm wheel offset or something a bit different? Please Help, I dont want to buy the wrong offset wheel. This lift kit def has good height to fit 38s, just worried about the width. I saw one guy put 37s under this lift and it def looked you can easily add 38s under there.

I run 0 offset with my RIG. I have Black Rhinos Rapids 17'. I run Cooper Discoverer STT Pro. I also use DV8 inner fender liners. My suspension is the Fabtech Dirt Logic kit.

With the DV8 inners, I now have no rubbing, and I have gone full lock to lock.
