Are the CVs longer? OEM spacers? And, what would be the reason for them to be wider? Just curious as after lifting my Wildtrak I get a little more nervous about a rollover and considering spacers just to offset that a little bit.

Wider primarily for more travel. Significant secondary benefits include more stability (sideways).

Width is added by control arms and axle, covered up by beefy plastic fenders.

Spacers are a great low cost way to add some width and stability while also provide some "poke" which can protect ones body/fenders.

Longer control arms and rear axle will increase the wheel travel via motion ratio (the ratio of wheel travel wrt shock travel).

I’d be more worried about running spacers than rolling over.
I probably won’t go this route - haven’t researched it at all, yet. But considering my options because the thought of tipping really makes me anxious out there.

Dana 50 on the rear also.
FYI they gusseted and reworked the frame .
Gotcha - sounds like a lot more of a rework than I originally guessed.

Spacers are utterly unharmful and safe. The only condition when they aren't are absurd sized ones, lugs too short or loose.

I'm very curious for any anecdotes of them being unsafe outside of the extremely minor caveats above. Please share.

*EDIT* And of course assuming good design/engineering. Which should go without saying...

What you gain in stability you lose in width / clearance.

Also scrub radius to consider if you don’t redo almost your entire front end to accommodate

But the extra width is purely a wider axle, nothing more.

Stated another way the body itself is a normal 4-door. There is flare, suspension, tire changes to get you width differences.

edit: the fenders themselves are also slightly wider. Check page 4 reply to me. My bad.

Definitely not spacers 😂 Reason it’s wider is more control by having a wider track width. You’ll be fine, I’d advise against spacers if you’re happy the way it sits already. Would be a marginal difference if you did them anyway.

LOL, anecdotes is probably about all that exists ...

I thought they used to use massive spacers on the steer axle of dual rear wheel trucks to get the tires to sit right.... from the factory.

I worked in a tire/suspension shop and saw plenty of failures caused by them. Mostly roasted wheel bearings and broken studs.

The "I've never had any problems" always shout louder on the internet though.
