New OBX owner, love my bronco but kicking myself for not getting SAS. Can you upgrade specs from non-sas to sas? Sorry if that is a stupid question. Like the lifted look, suspension and bigger tires. I suppose live and learn <.>

So here's the difference between SAS and non-SAS

35" tires
special rims (this isn't required, but it's part of the package)
Upgraded Bilstein suspension
~2" lift
Upgraded Front axles/drive unit
4A transfer case
Wider fender flares
Front and Rear lockers
4.70 gearing ratio

So... you can definitely pick and choose off that list. Many people just do the lift and tires and call it a day, and that can be done ~relatively~ low cost. I'd say I'm in that same boat myself as a Big Bend owner, and I've probably done about half of this stuff upgrading mine.

If you want the entire kit and kaboodle, it can be done, but you are better off trading in your current Bronco for a new one - as even with your depreciation loss of taking a new car off the lot, you are probably still going come out ahead on the trade in

Yup you can.

How much it costs will depend on if you want it to function like a Sasquatch Bronco, or if you just want it to look like Sasquatch. Making it look like a Sasquatch Bronco can be done for a couple thousand dollars depending on the exact wheels/tires/suspension you buy. And if you buy used take-off parts it can be done for under a grand

Making it function like a Sasquatch Bronco will be much more costly. Minimum $8000 if you buy the parts new. But like @Brian_B said if you compromise a bit it can be done for cheaper.

To OP, here is my opinion:

Sasquatch tires suck. "Maximum Traction" tires that love flinging rocks.

Factory Sasquatch wheels are heavy as hell 36.5 lbs and are a bitch to balance.

Sasquatch Bilstein shocks love to have their reservoirs fall off. They are cheap junk.

4A transfer case is legit, and not easily swappable. Not worth the cost and effort.

It's about $2500 in parts to swap the front differential and CV axles.

You would then need to re-gear the rear and add a locker. ~$800 in parts? Maybe $500-1000 in labor.

I don't like the Sasquatch flares. The OBX are the best. Painted is the way to go.

I do not like the factory disconnecting sway bar. I hate electrical nannies. Antirock Rock Jock sway bar is about $800.

If it's mostly appearance you're after, buy a $50 one or two inch puck lift, and then watch for a deal on some tires and wheels you like. You'll also need to pay for an alignment after the lift.

I got lightly used Ford Ranger wheels and Sas tire take-offs a local guy didn't want. Waiting to install the puck lift once I'm recovered from some surgery. No issues fitting the tires/wheels without the lift.

This is what most folks do.

If you also want upgraded shocks - you can just get shocks that include a lift in the first place and forgo the pucks (or other ways to lift your rig). That will start at around $1,200 for parts (for roughly what's equal in a SAS) and run all the way up to whatever you want to pay - coil overs can get expensive in a hurry.

Ever get the feeling that all these Squatch-My-Bronco threads are just sled lot owners trying to sell a fake-squatch?

So, I went with a Base model nonSAS. In my case I knew I wanted the SAS options regarding hardware but not the nanny controls in the software. I've installed wheels and tires and Fox suspension take offs from a WT. I just installed new SAS 4.70 locking differentials wired to manual switch. This weekend I'm installing a new electronic disconnect torsion bar from the BL wired to a manual switch. It's much more expensive than buying a SAS package but I knew it would be and I've got the options I want and none of the Ford controls that I know I didn't want. To answer your question, you can do whatever you want. It just costs money.

Lots of ways to get the Sas look. The cheapest are the perch collars and body lifts so you can fit bigger tires.

I would say upgrade to the Ford-approved next level shocks (and retain your suspension warranty):

https://accessories.ford.com/bronco-2021-2023-off-road-suspension-2-lift-kit-4dr

Get the fender flares:

https://accessories.ford.com/2021-bronco-fender-flare-kit-sasquatch

Get the rims and tires (there should be takeoffs from people replacing their Sas wheels, really cheaper):

https://accessories.ford.com/2021-bronco-bead-lock-capable-wheel-kit-wildtrak

Note that's also the WildTrak blackout rim. I don't see the true Sas wheel (silver beauty ring). Keep in mind, finding takeoffs will be a lot cheaper, even with shipping. Just be sure they're not all beat up.

Then get a good 35" tire that's good in snow/icy situations. I'll let people who know better there suggest what to get. I would make sure and keep it lighter and preferably a Load C rated tire so it's not super stiff on the ride.

Other than the grill, you'll have a reasonably similar Sas'd Bronco and still have your warranty for the most part. Getting a dealer service to install the suspension (or find an ASE Red tech...) is how you retain your warranty, too.

For this, I would budget $4-7k, depending on how much install is and if you find cheaper Sas takeoff rims. Also, the takeoffs might have the stock Goodyears, so you might save there if they're still in good shape.

Thank you! I fell in love with a '23 Wildtrak (with sas) but even though the dealership wasn't going to drop it anymore then dropped it an additional 5k after they traded with another dealership for my obx. Only reason I didn't go with wildtrak was that I am petty and wanted the lux package for the 360 camera and I didn't think I could get it down to what I could pay for it.. Little did I know I could have bought it after their further markdowns.
