I honestly thought this was part of the design, so that you get that 'doors off, top off, wind in your hair' sense even when the top is on and the windows are closed.
it is a shoe box going down the road... tighten the mountings make sure the latches are tight, it is still a shoebox going down the road. It is going to make noise due to drag and airflow . Quieter than the tires though. I love it.
A brick doing 80 MPH in a 30 MPH crosswind is going to cause a lot of turbulence and turbulence causes noise. A guy stopped me in the hotel parking lot while we were in Colorado on vacation last week to ask about my Bronco. He asked if it was quiet, the answer was a quick NO! I didn’t buy it to cruise quietly, I would have gotten an Explorer, I got the Bronco for what it can do. And on my 23 the wind noise doesn’t hold a candle to the 35” tires. Just turn the radio up a little.
It wasn’t bad when I got the Bronco in March of 22, but it started to make more noise in the last 6 months. I finally got irritated enough with the noise that I tracked it down.
It took a lot of effort on my end to really isolate the main issue (I didn’t want to do the whole thing about adding more weather stripping from the B6G thread if I didn’t have to)
And the issue turned out to be the “gaskets” on the center roof panel. And it was only on the passenger side, not the driver side.
So the dealership first applied “updated” weather stripping to my center panel. It greatly reduced the wind noise but did not eliminate it.
Then they brought in a new (“updated”) center panel with “updated” gaskets and it appears to have totally eliminated the wind noise.
I have not picked up my Bronco yet to confirm all thedeets, and I don’t know if this applies to every Bronco with roof noise, but for MY 2022 4-door Badlands, it seems that an updated center panel solves the problem. And it is covered under warranty.
But again, I was able to clearly show an issue with the roof. It was not a general “the roof sucks” complaint. I could clearly demonstrate the noise and show how to stop it (downward pressure on the center panel on the passenger side).
Sorry for the delay on my end. Got the Bronco back and promptly went an a 500 mile RT journey to go crabbing on Whidbey Island.
So in the end, the center panel was replaced under warranty due to "warping". The wind noise issue was due to a "bad contact pattern" between the passenger side of the panel and the body (as I determined on my own, but thought new rubber gaskets would have solved it).
My Bronco is now very quiet again (as quiet as a removable top vehicle can be). Absolutely zero wind whistling up to 80 mph.
As for coloration, from the sides, the center panel matches, but from overhead, the center panel is significantly less "faded" than the original panels (front and rear), but I don't see it unless I am washing the Bronco, so I don't care.
Very happy I don't have to go the route of adding all the foam strips to my roofline to quiet the interior noise as others have had to do.
The text on my invoice/receipt was "Another new top under SPW". No part number associated with the text. I assume "SPW" stands for "warranty" in some Ford parlance.
