Ford changed the rules in the middle of the game so I don’t fault any early reservation holders for placing a second order with a different dealer to increase their chances of getting a build date. I think it’s a great strategy! As far as I know, no one has been able to successfully transfer their reservation to a different dealer thus far and allocation is key. I recommend that Ford stops taking orders altogether until they can start clearing the backlog.
I inquired with Ford a couple weeks ago about moving my reservation/placed order and they replied it would be a 3-4 month process. So essentially, why move an order when you can just place one somewhere else? That's what I did.

If you can find a dealer anywhere that is doing $100 deposits I would be shocked. Locally here it is a $1000 non-refundable and an hour away is $500.00 at the lowest. Dealers have certainly caught on to folks doing multiple reservations.
It's not true. All 3 of my walk-in orders required not a cent. The one that just got pulled for production, I asked the dealer when they want a deposit. He said none required. Just show up and buy it.

I reserved my first order on 7/16/2020. was issued a vin on 7/1/2021. production was pushed back for various reasons. My bronco was finally produced 11/3, shipped on 11/4 and then stolen by the dealer on 11/18. as soon as I walked out of that shithole I called a dealer that I read on here that doesn't charge an ADM and placed an order. my new build week is 3/21. considerable less time then the first time around. the only thing I can't comment on is their allocations. when I ordered it and asked what a reasonable expectation for delivery would be and I was told 4-6 months. If I take delivery the first two weeks of April I will be well within that window.

I did the walk in alright 🤣. My superduty went in for a recall I test drove a BB mannequin with a 3.5” lift and 35’s. Mean looking as heck but the only option was auto trans, 3.73 gears no lockers. Still the wife loved it so I put a deposit down. I loved the color.
then the dealer called and a guy backed out of the other mannequin that was getting ready to be released so I bought that one instead lol. It’s an OBX, carbonized grey, high package leather. I would have preferred a black diamond for the flooring and upfitter switches. But it has everything else I want. Yes it has a few miles on it but it’s also a 2.7 and no issues so far I did pay sticker but in this market I hear that’s ok I’ve seen dealers mark these up $15k

That is certainly not the case here in the Southwest.

My three walk-in orders - Michigan, Indiana, Florida. None required a cent.
Same here in SATX... Dealer I'm working with said it's typically $500, but they'd waive it. @Chelada , same for you? We have the same dealer...

I'm worried something not legit about it. But I asked why no deposit and my salesman said, if you don't end up buying it, somebody else will... I agree with him so it makes sense.

To be clear, none required a cent to order. The one that received a VIN didn't require a deposit for production. Just conveyed the same sentiment that yours did. The other two orders would have required a deposit when a VIN was assigned. They didn't feel it was right to take money when they couldn't assure a VIN in a reasonable amount of time. I cancelled the one order and '99'd the other (it is at invoice price).

I was told the same thing although I did pay a refundable $100. He said I could refuse it up until the day it arrives on the lot. If I didn't want it, it would become part of their inventory and it would get sold.

Submitting multiple orders is how people are optimizing the game, using the dumb rules that Ford has laid out.

The countermove from dealers would be to require more of a deposit at order time, but this would require dealers to collude (either on their own or by direction from Ford), which doesn't seem super likely unless the multiple order thing gets totally out of hand.

I haven't done multiple orders myself, but only because of some combination of patience, laziness, and a misguided sense of honesty in business dealings. If you want to get your Bronco faster, that's the way.

I don't like the idea of placing more orders at other Dealers to see which one comes in first, simply because it feels like adding more blockage to an already trickling drain.

But I am seriously considering doing just that and putting in identical orders of what I have at Granger and see who wins the race. I'm looking at late '23 for my 2-Dr Badlands and that is extremely pushing my tolerance for waiting and patience.

My only real hold back is finding a Dealer I can trust that will sell at MSRP with no adm or 'additional dealer installed b.s' they deem necessary (nitrogen in the tires and such), but it's hard to find actual honest and open Dealers, especially when you're from out of State.

My local Dealer is a no go and on top if it, they're a small Dealer with small allocation and more orders than allocation.

I have no issues with driving and the option to ship is always there, also.

Kinda surprised we haven't reached the stage of full-blown selling open allotment slots for ADM yet. [In other words, the Bronco rationing system that would have been established if the reservation system had never existed -- paying for earlier access.] The name match requirement on orders and the good word of the dealers who have agreed to sell at MSRP are the thin twigs on which the whole reservation system is precariously balanced.
