I ordered a second one in early December when my 1st was still MIS at the factory. It still hasn’t been picked up yet but I have a feeling it will be.

  • Assuming the order is the same, reservations will beat walk-ins at the same dealer. Earlier reservations will beat later reservations at the same dealer -- again, only guaranteed if the order is the same. That's all that the reservation really gets you.
I think you're spot on with your first two bullets. For the third, I just hope this assumption is true!

It seems like some new orders are jumping ahead of reservation holders but maybe dealers are just getting better at coaching people on how to avoid constraints so their new orders skip the line.

What I dislike about plans like this is it puts extra orders in the system and gives dealers access to abandoned orders to markupand sell.
In order not to negatively effect their name/order retention I'm cancelling whatever doesn't make the cut.

Also they can do whatever they want with markups on abandoned orders. When they do it to reservation holders that's another problem

I have a July 2020 reservation but I got nothing but crickets with that, so I also have another order in place..... for a Jeep. Whichever comes in first gets the check.

Seeing people with multiple orders really bugs me. How do you think having more than one order will help anyone? All it's doing is slowing the entire process down and potentially building Broncos that no one wants, adding to the slow down further.

So Ford sees multiple orders placed and the customer only intends to buy one of them. Now they've put work into orders on both the company and dealers' side, how does that help anyone? Seems selfish and wasteful... end rant.

When you've been waiting 18 months and getting skipped over by walk ins, and seen your identical build being built, or see a build with more constraints than yours get picked. You might begin to understand the absolute fatigue some of the day 1 or week 1 reservation order holders are feeling. Besides my plan is to cancel whatever doesn't get scheduled, which effects no one in the end.

7/15 res - had been in the dark on getting any build date basically ever lol
4dr EG - BL - MIC - lux - 2.3 - 10sp (removed tow)

2 weeks ago put in a 'quick ship order' through same dealer. 4 dr EG soft top - BB- MID - 2.3 - 10sp

both got pulled. 'quick ship' is coming in a week before my 'real' order.... because of course ford would do that.

Yup!
Or the dealer…. ??
I’m wondering if they can give the allocation Priorities to the new walk people to make more money???

My sales I already said
that they hope Res-people cancel so they can make moer money off of them. but they’re still gonna honor MSRP if you stick it out.

The only reason I don’t quit…is because I don’t really need a car I just want it… but….that dream is starting to fade….
The light the end of the tunnel is…the people that waited for over a year and a half, so far they have said….once they get it they say it’s Totally worth it!

That’s what I’m going on!!!
dont forget Ford raised the MSRP on the Bronco for 2022 but still post to give 2021 MSRP on people with 2020 reservations so Ford well make more on them.

Oh, I totally get the frustration of getting skipped over and being left in the dark. I believe that has more to do with individual dealerships than anything. Thinking that having multiple orders doesn't affect anyone is short-sighted for reasons previously pointed out. You'd have to think Ford plans out what they'll need in the future based on orders they have placed, no? So if you have multiple orders for specific vehicles it would have to bog things down for others IMO.

I have this test in motion- 07/19/20 reservation/order compared to a new 01/24/22 order. Same build, different dealer.
all right .I thought about doing the same a few weeks ago.

my point exactly, now those parts could have been used to build someone a vehicle that they actually wanted.

Ford changed the rules in the middle of the game so I don’t fault any early reservation holders for placing a second order with a different dealer to increase their chances of getting a build date. I think it’s a great strategy! As far as I know, no one has been able to successfully transfer their reservation to a different dealer thus far and allocation is key. I recommend that Ford stops taking orders altogether until they can start clearing the backlog.

I have 2 very basic builds in (basesquatch 4 door). Given one is at Chapman so I won't see that until 2028, but the other is at a high volume dealership and was a walk-in a few months ago. I think August... I'm about to go to 3 or 4 more dealerships and just order the same damn build, drop a hundred at each, and whoever gets it first wins.

I'm going to do that and then 2024 I'll get all 4 the same week.
If you can find a dealer anywhere that is doing $100 deposits I would be shocked. Locally here it is a $1000 non-refundable and an hour away is $500.00 at the lowest. Dealers have certainly caught on to folks doing multiple reservations.
