UPDATE: I'd come to terms with this being an existing issue, and not much of a safety concern. Scheduled with Ford tomorrow. And then, this morning, sitting at a light, auto start stop kicks in, brake pedal firms up, and I start rolling downhill into the intintersection. Fortunately with the MT I can just push clutch in to get engine started and the brakes come back. Scary and dangerous nonetheless.

2022 7MT Badlands. Last four startups, when I push brake and clutch the brake pedal has had no give. I haven't been pumping it at shut down. Operates normally driving, no binding. I know soft pedal is air in the lines, but no idea what's happening right now.

IF you still need to drive it, atleast check the brake fluid level under the hood. Sorry if this is obvious, but since this is safety related pointing it out isn't overkill. You can top off the fluid, but there are various forms of brake fluid so refer to your manual. BTW leaking brake fluid can damage the brake pads also. Warranty should cover it all unless they see evidence of rock bashing.

Good luck.

Maybe this?

SSM 51201

Some 2021-2022 Bronco vehicles equipped with the 2.3L engine may exhibit a red brake warning lamp and brake system warning message in the instrument panel cluster (IPC) with a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P050F in the anti-lock brake system (ABS) module. This may be accompanied by an intermittent firm brake pedal after driving for long periods at highway speeds. This may be due to improper sealing of an internal diaphragm within a brake booster vacuum line. To correct this condition, replace the vehicle's vacuum line with the latest version service part number MB3Z-2420-H or later. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 206-09 for installation instructions. For claiming, use casual part 2420.

Not gonna be the same... the 2.3M/T uses manifold vacuum for the power brakes, and there is a bad check valve in the assembly that the advisory has you replace.

You're F-150 uses an electric vacuum pump (As does your 2.7l V6 Bronco), Most likely cause on your F-150 is that the pump has gone bad..

Hi there! Would you send us a private message with your VIN and dealership name and location? I’d like to look into this concern on my end.

I am having all of these exact same issues! Thank you for the info! Mine is firming up when traveling out of town and driving at 75-80ish mph for extended times, usually when the check brakes system alert and red BRAKE turns on to scare the crap out of me! I need to make time to get to ford fast! Will they help me?

Not a safety concern. Just a faulty vacuum sensor. Widespread. It is unnerving though

They fixed it all under warranty. They added a new updated brake vacuum hose( I drive a 2021) So far all good now. I’ll drive out of town this weekend and update if the issue comes back. Ford did reach out to me and made sure the dealer treated me good on this and even drove my car to my house once fixed since I work from home 6 days a week. Good experience

I just had this on my 2021 Bronco. "Check Brakes" error popup on the dashboard. I found all the SSMs on this common, known failure pointing to a faulty vacuum line (like TSB SSM 50472). I took it to my dealer guess what? "That part is not covered." they tell me.

I argued that this is a known problem, I've had TONS of problems the first 2 years on my new Bronco, so much so FORD kindly gave me a free 3 year extension on the 36K mile waranty. Now I'm into that one, at 39K miles, and of course the part and labor is mysteriously "not covered" in the ESP!

How can this be?! I had the same problem 25 years ago with my new Taurus SHO. It would need a new brake booster pump at 10,000 miles. I'd take it in, the dealer would sadly say, "that part is NOT COVERED". EVERY part that I've ever had FAIL on a Ford when in ESP is "not covered!" What is the deal with this, it smells like a clever racket....and did back in 1995 too.

I'm going through the same. I bought my '21 Badlands used but with 8K miles on it late last year. I experienced this brake issue on the ride home after picking it up at the dealer after purchase. I called and made an appointment to get all outstanding recalls addressed the week after buying it, but there was an odd 6-week wait for an appointment. This is World Ford in Pensacola, FL.

At that appointment I asked them to check the brakes and explained the issue. They said there was nothing wrong and returned it to me. The issue only happens for me at constant highway speeds so it was months before it happened again. During that time, I also downloaded Forscan to get rid of the double honk and saw the 3 codes for this brake issue still in the system from the day I bought the car. Those codes point to a Service Bulletin that's been around since 2022.

When I took it in for the oil change I explained the codes, Service Bulletin, and that the World Ford mechanics missed the codes I reported and this could be a dangerous issue. At first they agreed it should be covered under warranty, then checked and said my 3-year warranty expired the day before the appointment last year. Coincidence - maybe. But I can tell you when I called for an appointment for this oil change they had plenty of availabilty immediately and no 6-week wait.

They still have my car after a week. They say they diagnosed and replicated the issue themselves and sent a request to corporate to cover the fix. Heard today that was declined. I want to just get the part and fix it myself so checking into if that is something I can handle. I'd pay them the ~$500 to get it done, but now they are saying they don't have the part. I don't know why they were waiting. Seems like the part should have been ordered while waiting for corporate's response.

I love my Bronco, so this is really just a dealer/corporate rant. Now that I am out of warranty I don't mind doing all the service myself going forward.
