Trailrax staining around bolts Help!

On the trailrax, especially by the front wind fairing, I’m getting this horrible staining around the bolts. I’ve cleaned the area multiple times but it always comes back. Has anyone found a fix for this? Maybe changing to stainless steel bolts or something?

Looks like a calcium build up with dirt and maybe soap residue mixed in.

Try some undiluted white vinegar with a toothbrush. If it foams, that is your culprit.

Highly unlikely it is rust. Your black oxide bolts and washers look clean. Switching to stainless will do nothing different, except maybe look dirty.

I’m thinking the same thing - looks like similar residue is elsewhere in the photo, but for some reason those bolts are really collecting it rather well.

Try CLR, it dissolves calcium, lime, and rust. Love the stuff.
