I’m sure I did it all wrong but have 2 cheap eBay lights in each wheel well and on at each end of each rocker skid/step…better than nothing…

That looks great!! Have you had any issues with them? I ordered mine but thinking about throwing one behind the grille to give it a back lighting effect.

I did not realize there was a wrong way to do it... It looks like the ground is lit up underneath you. I think if you had pointed them up toward the bronco it might have not worked as well.... But wrong? I don't know about that. I think it looks great and should be helpful when you are out on the trail in the dark!

Thanks!…I am happy with them so far….A Little sarcasm for the folks/posts here with fancy (expensive) lights and/or saying not to put them in wheel wells…Party on!

except for stupidly mounting one against the body seam (they are mounted behind the inner fender liner) and pushing the inner liner out so the tire could rip the fender liner (and light) out on full compression, no problems so far…enjoy!

Buckle Up Buttercup on YouTube recently posted an interesting video on using Street Glow instead of formal rock lighting. May be worth considering!

Fun fact... I used to work at StreetGlow :) Ya know how I run a company selling LED lights and accessories now... WELLL back in the day I was the one who designed StreetGlow's website and also created their first e-commerce website :) I worked for them for about 5-6 years or so and even continued to do contracting/consulting work with them years later. I'm friends with the owner still.

Anyone running rock lights in your wheel wells that could share some photos? I really think these look great for nighttime filming on the trails, but some of the pics from the lighting companies I've seen kinda also look cheesy. It also seems like the pods can be hidden a bit better on Jeeps than on Broncos. If I did these, I wouldn't want people seeing the pods or have the pods shooting light out the side of the wheel well blinding people. Anyway, if you've seen or have some cleanly installed rock lights on our trucks I'd love to see them. Thanks!
Here ya go. Some photos from todays install. Pretty easy. Pull your mudflap off. Remove some bolts/screws from the liner and pull it down. Then you can put some holes in the liner and install your rock lights. In the case of the DD ones we did the RGBW kit so we made 2 holes (1 for the wire, 1 for the bolt). I also used a larger washer to ensure it didn't pull through but that liner is pretty strong.

That’s a clean, nice install! Thanks for sharing and forfor helping me correct my order. I think I still have a set of street-glows in my garage that I was going to put on my 2010 Camaro. I have some lighting trendz flow series I need to put on my challenger scat but the bronco has gotten more attention from me than any car I’ve owned.

Only if you are installing them back up behind the skid which would kind of defeat the purpose.... Skids are really easy to take on and off... But rock lights should not be located behind them.... I suppose if you route your wiring above a skid it might be easier to remove the skid.... but I mounted 12 lights, I tried to follow the existing wiring for my routing. I did not remove a single skid that I remember on this mod.... I have all the stock skids (badlands) except the transmission plate off the Braptor that I am still trying to source.

NVM. Not stock. Trust me. It won’t be easy and there’s no where to route the wires if I didn’t pull them. It’s edge to edge coverage.

I am jealous of your skids!... But I can see the wiring routes I used in your picture.... Most of your wiring runs down the outside of your frame rails.... I zip tied right to it.

Cool! Are you wires able to tuck enough on the edges that they wouldn’t be exposed to rocks? Like they would be tucked in a channel between the rail and skids?

The wiring from ford is on the outside of the frame rail... yes BUT at the top of the frame rail, up high and out of the way. I even placed my rock light wiring on the top side of that.... It is way up out of the way. The hardest part I had was finding where to locate the lights themselves.... I wanted those up high where they would not get hit by scraping rocks or by flung rocks and mud and yet still low enough to still get as much light as possible to the ground. That is the compromise.... The wiring tucks up great and is out of the way....

I installed ~18 pods, found a LED controller that uses the same app as my headlights, also a couple more controllers for the two LED zones in the cab. All the zones are sync'd or can change individually. Pretty much had to solder everything, 4 or 5 tiny wires per pod, soldering extension wires then to pigtails, must have a few hundred solder joints. I don't really use them often, I've probably used them more when I'm working underneath the Bronco than on the trail, lol. The interior lights are more practical, I lit that mofo up.
