Suspension Lift or Spacers

Trying to get a 2” lift on my OBX non-sas Bronco and been getting mixed opinions on a full suspension lift vs just the spacers? Any thoughts? NOT planning on taking it off roading.

The best case scenario for non-Sas are Bilstein 6112's, which if you get from Ford Performance fit the Bronco without changing your suspension geometry. I believe they hold onto the warranty as well if you get this installed by dealer service or an ASE Red mechanic. This will also improve the ride over the Hitachis. However, this will cost you a few thousand.

The next best case are perch lifts. I don't know that much about this option, but my understanding is it's the better than puck lifts or spacers. I think they also ride better.

I happen to like body lifts if done correctly, since they're cheap, easy to install and remove if you want while not changing your suspension geometry.

Or just get a Badlands takeoff suspension. My base sits a little higher than a SAS with the 4 door Badlands shocks/springs on 35's. I think I paid $400-450 for the suspension parts.

One thing I'm not going to do is put these ESC-V's back on once they're shot. They aren't that good, especially once you add about 100lbs of weight. Better than Hitachis, I getcha, but with the corrosion issues and stuff falling off and the lackluster performance...

I think the ones in back are shot already (25k miles, a couple thousand off road). I would consider this a short term fix.

Quality Spacers will give ya the lift ya want and keep stock articulation & ride if you are happy with stock suspension…perch collars are cheaper, they will stiffen the ride some and take away articulation…aftermarket shocks are much more expensive but offer much better ride and full articulation…enjoy your Bronco journey!

I dont think you even need to take the collars out of the stock position - let the spacers do the lift work & keep more articulation in the shocks

On the IFS, you're limited to adding about an inch of downtravel (either via longer-travel struts, or top-hat spacers, but not both).


If you do that, then you'll also want to add 1"+ of spring lift. It's ok to have a little bit more uptravel than downtravel, but you don't want a lot more, because a large disparity would decrease articulation.


When I describe adding the 1"+ of uptravel, this involves unpacking the struts. That's why I refer to spring lift. If you're unpacking the struts anyway, then why not upgrade the springs while you're in there.


Not as simple of an answer as you might have been expecting, but that's IFS for ya.

I have the 2 inch RC spacers on my OBX non SAS. Had them for almost a year. I have taken them offroad and had no issues. I also put on 35x12.5 and still have had no issues. Now that being said I am waiting on 6112's to come in so I can install them. I got the spacers because I wanted to make sure that 2 inches was going to be enough for me if I needed to go taller. I am happy with the 2 inches and can't wait for my 6112's to come in and install them.

If your just street driving and lile the ride do a dpacer. I run s 2 in spacer and offtode at yhe time. You can run 35s with no lift just remove yhe crash bars.
