I've upgraded my dash speakers (Kicker 4") and the rear pods (SSV 6.5") and made forscan adjustments and now ready to install a real amp and speaker in the subwoofer delete on my Big Bend. I've ordered the Ford Fusion drop-in amp and Kicker 6 3/4 subwoofer and will be doing the install next weekend once those arrive.

Installation advice, tips, and tricks regarding rear panel removal, speaker and amp installation and wire-up, etc from those of you with experience is much appreciated.

Plenty of threads on this here, and all over YouTube.

Take your time with the trim - that’s about it really. That rear panel is rather a pain in the butt.

Yeah, that's what I've gathered from other threads and videos. Curious about some of the different clips on it and how best to approach it. Seems they are easy to break. I guess I just have to get into it to see what I'm dealing with firsthand. I found some diagrams and pics in other threads that should help.

It doesn’t help that some of the prices of the cargo panel are plastic riveted together, and the trim clips are stronger than the plastic rivets.

Helpful to have either a plastic welding tool and/or a tube of E6000 glue

I think there’s only one type of clip back there, but since they changed it out a couple years ago with a TSB it holds with the power of a thousand octopi.

As someone mentioned, the trim is the most difficult part. The speaker is easy if you purchased the correct size. Sounds like you did. The amp mounts right in place of the old dummy amp. The wiring plugs right into the new amp. The pcitures are probably not much help but I'll include them.

If you have the accessory switches, the rear power wire ends near the amp. Now is the time if you want an accessory powered in back or rear of the car. It would be easy to connect or extend the wiring while the inside panel is off.

I got this done this past weekend. Only broke one clip but had ordered spares from Amazon so an easy fix. Pretty happy with the result. Hope I never have to remove that trim panel again.

No one ever believes me when I say this is the hardest part of doing a stereo upgrade
