Again, have not listened recently, but a few years ago streaming via the phone was higher quality that satellite in the car - and by a good bit. Especially the talk channels
I could be wrong/deaf! I upgraded all speakers, and added 2 amps on my B&O system (which totally sucked!!!). Before my subscription ended, my sound was decent. I could tell a big difficiency in the sound when using my phone. No matter how much I tried to adjust, it still sounded like a tunnel. I know with all the sound afficianados on here, someone has a clue what I'm trying to say lol.Sound moves me.

The ultra-annoying “DJ” named Madison ruined nearly every station I would want to listen to on SiriusXM.

When I cancelled, I told them why and that it didn’t matter what kind of low price they offered as long as that shetard was on the air.

I pay $5ish per car per month. I don’t do all the channels - mainly music and news/talk. The app is included. My kids have me subscribed to almost every video streaming service … the Sirius cost is barely a blip on the radar. And I don’t watch the streaming, they do and don’t live home 😳
If Okay, would love to send you a direct message? I enjoy your posts! Luckily, all my kids are long gone, and don't share my life long love of music. I'm retired, and just trying to get the best bang for the buck so to speak. Keeps me married. I pay $4.99 monthly for streaming only. While it is ALL inclusive, I listen to maybe 5 channels max. Not a Stern fan anymore either. Sounds like you may have more what I prefer.

I'm old, and sorry if I can't find my topic on here. I have a 22 Outerbanks, 4 door with (replaced B&O system), SAS pkg. I have the Siriusxm streaming package on my phone/home computer. Is their anyway to use the streaming app in my Bronco without using my phone? I have the "built in Navigation", and The "Alexis built in" . But I do NOT have the " PREMIUM Connectivity" anymore. Sound is terrible using my phone. But I can't solve the puzzle! Is there a way around this? Would the premium connectivity solve the issue? I don't use Alexa BS at all. Any HELP would be much appreciated.
Premium Connectivity would help, but since you don’t use Alexa, there’s no built-in workaround. Unfortunately, using your phone or upgrading connectivity are the main options. A better-quality phone cable or Bluetooth adapter might help with sound.

So you pay $72 for your vehicle. and it includes ALL channels streaming?
I pay for Sirius in my Hummer, and it comes with streaming service which I stream into my bronco using CarPlay. And of course, I use the App at the gym, work etc…

Is your radio capable of receiving Sirus via satellite? You can negotiate full premium service including satellite streaming for what you are paying now.

Yes. But I can't listen to it in my house, outside etc. I'm trying to figure out if I can have the best of both worlds I guess.
Any Sirius/XM subscription includes access to the Sirius/XM app that you can enable on Amazon/Google/PC/Phone/iPad/etc. They mention that almost hourly on almost all the channels.

I understand your Dilemma it is inferior. I have a lifetime subscription I bought 30 years ago and I use it in my Semi and stream in the Bronco. I’m considering swapping the service to the Bronco and just streaming in the semi because I listen to a lot of talk radio in the semi and can forward back and use podcasts. My suggestion is buy an annual subscription and bite the bullet for a few dollars a month and get the best of both worlds. Regular subscriptions include streaming

LOL as on Lithium? I find her enduringly annoying

Anyway from Google AI's answer-High bitrate=better-take all info with grain of salt

SiriusXM uses a variable bitrate, meaning the bitrate can change depending on the streaming conditions and the specific channel. For music channels, the bitrate typically ranges from 48-64kbps when streamed over satellite. Over the internet, the SiriusXM app offers Normal, High, and Maximum audio quality settings, with the bitrate varying based on your chosen setting and your network conditions.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:
Satellite Streaming:
.
SiriusXM's satellite broadcasts utilize a modified AAC algorithm, with music channels generally having a bitrate around 48-64kbps, according to a Quora post.
Internet Streaming:
.
When streaming through the SiriusXM app, users can select between Normal, High, and Maximum audio quality settings. The app dynamically adjusts the bitrate based on your internet connection speed.
Potential Bitrate Ranges:
.
While SiriusXM doesn't publicly release exact bitrates for each setting, PCMag notes that the app uses variable bitrates to optimize audio quality. A Reddit thread suggests that the bitrate for Sirius in the vehicle can be as high as 256kbps or higher.
Factors Affecting Bitrate:
.
The bitrate is affected by factors like the specific channel (some channels may have lower bitrates than others), the total demand on the satellite, and your internet connection speed (when streaming via the app).
Sounds like the OP might have to check his app settings to see what the deal is or they have crap reception when using the app.

I use the SiriusXM app with CarPlay and I have an updated sound system using kicker amps and a sub and generally the two stations I listen to are good/decent quality.

I have Sirius in my 22 Outer Banks but have not replaced the BO sound system. I pay a yearly fee and have the app on my phone and IPad.. it all works great. I use the iPad and a blue tooth speaker sometimes when I supply teach, especially at Christmas. I can also play it on my TV sound system. I have had this service since about 2002.

You asked earlier how mine sounds. I‘m probably not the audiophile that you are - I think the B&O is pretty good and doesn’t need upgrades - however I must point out that SiriusXM uses “lossy“ compression. They even compress some channels more than others based on market share, etc. Also, cellphone streaming is not only uses lossy compression even with the best signal but it also downgrades the streaming quality based on signal, etc. Bottom line is that SiriusXM doesn’t come close to the quality of plain old FM; music stored on my iPhone with lossless compression sounds the best.

I pay $4.99/month (plus taxes and royalties) in the Bronco and get free streaming with the app on any of my devices. XM through the Bronco sounds better than streaming my phone through Apple CarPlay, for whatever that's worth.

The only drawback is I have to cut the same deal every year after the $4.99 is done. Occasionally I will cancel the Bronco subscription because they say they can't do that. After a week or two they offer you the $4.99 deal and will throw in something else, like Amazon Echo Dot, or a portable power bank, etc.

Do you have maximum turned on for audio quality in the settings within the iPhone app?

After 13 years as a SiriusXM subscriber, I just pulled it from both vehicles. Sirius could never keep their billing straight - I'd pay in a advance for the year, then I'd continue to see Sirius charges on my card. This happened repeatedly. Instead of apologizing and correcting the errant charges, they would always add some other excuse or reason why the random charge was suddenly legit...so I just called them and ordered them to "kill it!!" I told them I don't ever want to see another SiriusXM bill again. My wife and I are both fine streaming from our phones with Android Auto. Works great in my Bronco and her Hyundai.

Yeah, I got sick of their inconsistent billing, the need to always have to call in and haggle for a decent price, and all the talk stations had more advertising than shows. Figured if I was gonna end up listening to commercials anyway, I sure didn't need to pay a subscription to do that.

I kinda missed it when I first canceled, since I lost live radio out in the sticks, but really I only miss one or two talk shows. And now that I have Starlink in the Bronco, the only part I kinda missed (being able to listen to live radio in the boonies) is fixed up, and I like the music selection on Spotify/Apple Music way better than the music channels on SXM anyway.
