Anybody here have a problem with, for lack of better words, an intermittent (once every 20-30 seconds) screeching sound with a cold start of their vehicle? I have a manual 2.3l and this happens to me. Is there a TSB or other documentation that I can take to the dealer.

Also, I noticed in the garage the other day that there is a very loud clicking sound from the rear after I rev the engine and then let off the throttle. I noticed this after taking the top off (finally!). IIRC Bronco's come with an active exhaust of some kind. Is it something to do with that?

I always get push back from dealers on things like this (weird sounds) and prefer to have documentation of a known issue if possible.

No screeching issues here. Being intermittent every 20-30 seconds could be associated with the AC system cycling maybe.

No idea on the loud clicking from the rear. The 2.3 does not have the active exhaust.

Is it going “kathunka, kathunka, kathunka” ?

Or is it more of a “thawapata, thawapata, thawapata” sound ?

At nearly 11,000 miles (so far), I have had zero issues with my 7 MT in extreme cold weather or very hot weather and every temperature in between.

No squeaking in hot weather (the last 2 days were in the low 90s with high humidity).

However, in extremely cold weather (below 5 degrees), there is a very faint and soft "plastic cup" sound as I release the clutch pedal. But to be honest, I can only hear it when the heater fan is off and the arthritis is my knee is not clicking. I've always assumed it was the pedal arm making contact with its "stop pad". I don't consider those type of noises to be a problem or quality issue in ANY make of truck or car. -- And definitely NOT a 7 MT problem on my Bronco

ahh lucky you. when i release my clutch pedal in 90+ degree weather or with the heater on the floor setting it squeaks and you can feel the chatter from it in your foot. Its like nails on a chalk board some days lol

Hmm...
When did it start?
If that starts with my Bronco, I'm wondering if I should spray some lubricant on the pedal arm joints.
(And as I type this, I know this thread will get memes and posts focused on unrelated lubricants.)

Me too - and it's getting worse. I still need to get that Steeda spring installed and find the right lubrication for the pedal spring assembly.

When I installed my Steeda spring the OEM spring had a giant gob of regular ole bearing grease. Didn't appear to be anything special.

Its been happening sense it was right off the lot. My focus rs did the same thing and i was able to put a good high temp grease on the spring and it went away but I've done that on my bronco and it hasn't gone away. I've spray wd40 everywhere I could and still didn't go away. and even took a small paint brush and put the same grease i used on my focus all over everything i could access and it still does it but not as bad.

It's a screech with 20-30 seconds in between. Doesn't seem to be in rhythm with the engine spinning. Next time I have a chance, I'll record it. It's very consistent.
