Wanted to share one of the biggest shortcomings with my base model...the steering wheel. I settled on an off the shelf cover for it, then got inspired to wrap it myself. It took about 2 hours total but I love the way it came out. The leather wrap was $17, the blue waxed thread was $8, and i used double sided gorilla tape for adhering the wrap to the back side (spokes) at 3,6 and 9 o-clock. For about $30 and some labor, one of my favorite mods yet.

Very nice! I've thought about this but the plastic protrusions put me off. Did you trim the leather to get around the bottom? And how did you get it to lay down nicely under the button parts?

Nice job!
Where did you buy the cover?
I know RedlineGoods has them but they're $100.
I'll finally be getting my BaseSquatch within a week or so. I'll have to see if I can stand the plastic wheel.

I used a cheap plastic trim removal tool to tuck the leather into the plastic spoke areas. The tuck left a mark on the leather after a few minutes, i cut just on the outside of the mark (leaving longer). The top of my wrap has a factory stich, and the bottom spoke needed the most material taken out, thats why I opted for the faactory stich to be at the top, not the bottom as it would start to unravel. The front of the wrap is pinched in the spokes, and the rear was held down with double sided gorilla tape...GL you can do it!

i agree. that base plastic wheel was awful. I sent mine out to dallas custom wheels they beefed it up a bit, nappa leather wrapped and then did red / white / blue tri-color stitching. I need to get a better pic of it installed.

I'm looking for a direct replacement leather with none of the nonsense like lane assist, etc. Anyone know the part number? @flip ?
