Test drove a raptor today, it was similar to my wildtrack but much more powerful. Had a chance to play with the exhaust modes and it left me with a question. With the windows open I could definitely hear the differences between the 4 modes. However, with the windows closed at times it seemed loud under hard acceleration in any mode, is this the "fake engine noise" ? And can you disable it ?

Secondly, I'm seeing some Raptors with signs of wear or discoloration on the driver's seat. These all have the power seats. Is there something with that "mesh" ? Are there wear issues ? What is that part of the seat and can it be steam cleaned or some other method?

Thanks

No fake engine noise in the Braptor - what you are hearing is live not Memorex.

As for the seats - are you noticing actual wear/staining or is it simply the nap of suede that is giving the appearance of an anomaly? To test, run your hand over it in a single direction and look - then rub in the opposite direction. Was there a difference? (Problem solved)

Alcantara, ultra-suede, in my experience with multiple cars, actually wears better than leather. To clean it, simply use a steaming hot wet cloth and rub. My last car had Alcantara seats before being totaled and at 90K, the "suede" portion looked better than the leather portion on the base of the seat.

I've had conflicting answers on fake engine noise. I had a thread a while back where certain members insisted there were indeed piped-in noises. Top on, it's definitely quieter but with the top off, in Baja mode (exhaust), it borders on sounding bad-ass on full acceleration. I'm over my loud exhaust days but I'd consider downpipes with high flow cats if it weren't for that pesky warranty. With four modes, I figure quiet or normal would be solid when I wanted to quiet things down.

Curious if you had the stereo on during hard acceleration? One thing to consider is the valves probably open on hard acceleration above a certain rpm. I don't really notice it and I daily drive mine to work. Putting it in normal or quiet does make a big difference IMO. Maybe I've just gotten used to it. I usually have the stereo going pretty good though.

There was a thread on fake engine noise. I had a guy use ForScan to turn it off per that thread but honestly I didn‘t notice a difference

The engine revs high. Makes lots of noise. I noticed it at first when I got mine. Now I don’t notice it as much. Possibly it’s “learned” and calmed down some or maybe ive gotten used to it.

There’s a quiet mode. I’ve never used it. With windows up I can barely heard differences in any mode. With doors off and top off you can tell more .

Most here probably like the Loud exhaust. I don’t as it really sounds like a v6. Not a v8. It’s not a deep muscle car sound. It’s a tiny 6 cylinder noise.

I think the fake engine noise thing is fake news. I had my daughter have her ears up to each speaker and the engine noise was not coming from any of them. So can an expert tell me if there is a fake noise being pumped in, where is it coming from?

I don't know, and I don't have a raptor yet, BUT I have read that this comes in to play when tinkering with the audio system. My Wildtrack is base audio, sub delete so it's pretty easy to mod. The B&O guys mostly use the Mobridge setup and I've heard no issues with that. Seems to me I read something about an audio shop (issue right there) trying to tie in or amplify the sub's signal and having less than staller results.

Had an old Acura that after I added an infinity Basslink, I had to disable the ANC.

"There was a thread on fake engine noise. I had a guy use ForScan to turn it off per that thread but honestly I didn‘t notice a difference"

I think the statement above might be heading in the right direction. Why is that in Forscan and how and what does it do.

thank you

Some of the items found in Forscan don't even apply to Bronco. I do know that the 2.3 L Mustang has fake noise because you can barely hear the stock engine at all without it.
