So I wanted to share that I had to bring my 20,500 mile '24 4MT Bronco to the dealership because the 3rd gear synchro was broken (I think it was popping out on my way from initial pickup at 5 miles, I figured it must have been my bad shift, but not the case) The tranny is now new.

The other day aftrer a long ski trip drive through the Adirondacks, after a interstate ride, I got off I-90 and 3rd gear was toast. All other gears were OK. Dealership replaced the transmission in a week. I was happy with that.

However, software was upgraded, and it caused a strange result. Sport mode stopped adding timing, no increase in power and sound. Also Infotainment system, stopped all audio. no FM no Android auto, no phone. I'm pissed. This continued for the rest of the next day.

So I made a dealership appointment, for next week just in case I don't figure it out.

I went to the bar, for an hour to bitch with friends, and after that the darn timing started working again, and the infotainment was perfect, music on, phone working. WTF, I got no answers. ANYONE HAVE ANY THOUGHTS? Must be some kind of reset that takes a few days to fix?

Later all,
Farley

Sport mode doesn’t adjust timing or add power.
Really the only major thing it for a manual Bronco is increasing throttle sensitivity, which is not something any software update would have changed.

Wrong! It increases timing, and with 93 Octane you get better fuel consumption. So you can feel it, and if you get the performance module it is 93 oct mandatory so more timing bigger bang.

And the software glitch I just described, the power change was super obvious. Ford has some kind of change that is lagging a learning algo or something, but it self fixed mine so I'm sure it is not a mechanical issue...

lol that has absolutely nothing to do with specific goat modes like sport mode.

If you had the Ford performance tune and they did an update on the PCM, it likely removed it. Maybe that’s what you’re referring to?

Ducati is right - Sport mode doesn't change the engine at all. It does change transmission shift points (on the 10spd auto) and the throttle sensitivity. It might adjust the ESE (fake engine noise) - I don't have that so not sure. But on the 7MT it's just the throttle sensitivity. Engine performance is entire up to octane and engine tune - GOAT modes don't affect it at all.

I would suspect one of two thiings --

The computers just got confused, and eventually sorted themselves out.

Your battery is starting to get low - which can cause all sorts of weird things to happen, and after driving some it topped itself back off.

uh try it, put in 93 octane. Then sport mode you get a horsepower increase. it was advertised. But for some reason in this case after the dealership replaced the transmission (warantey), the software got updated too, i left dealership with infotainment not working. Also Sport mode was not increasing the timeing in my 93 octane. It sucked!

Then all of a sudden the sport mode and the audio started working. The intention of this post is to find if others had this issue.

Thanks again,
Farley

The advertised power increase from using 93 is for ALL modes.
Individual GOAT modes do not increase timing or power.
The only thing increased in sport mode is throttle sensitivity.

OK well in this case it wasn't working at all. Then all of a sudden it worked again, the purpose of this thread was to talk about software problems sorry if that was not understood.

Again, the issue corrected today. Lets see if it continues...
