My soft top (just the top cover) was recently replaced under warranty on my ‘22 4 door because it was coming apart at the rear passenger corner.

Now whenever I drive with the windows down a small portion of the top cover slaps up and down in the location/gap identified by the arrow in the pic below. It is definitely worse with only one window down and you exacerbate buffeting. Is this normal for the updated top? My prior top cover was the old design and didn’t do this.

You can stick your hand in the gap or place something like a towel in the space and it stops. I’m taking it in soon for a different issue and not sure if I should complain about this - dealer was great about replacing the top.

Is this just normal behavior for the “2.0” soft top?

My 22 does that exactly. Not all the time....but from time to time. I'm tempted to spray some Gorilla Glue in there....

Isn't 'thumping' a common issue with almost every car?

Get yourself some foam and stuff it up there - problem solved.

Sure, if you have just one window open you get some buffeting in most cars. However, this happens with two front windows open and the area noted slaps up and down.
