Slant back top blues

It's cold now for the rest of the year now. I desperately want a soft top. I held off on buying the hideous slant back in hopes of someone making a normal (NON CANOPENER TOP) but have seen none. Come spring I'll end up buying one no matter what. It will be the first accessory bought for my bronco that I will NOT be excited to take a picture of.

You could buy a takeoff OEM soft top. I don't love the slant back either but I think that bestop looks better than the saggy OEM soft top.

I sent an email to Bestop about the possibility of them making a 2dr soft top that folds all the way back like a wrangler and is not a slant back. I got a reply that they were seriously considering making one.I read Bestop comment the same thing in a few other threads but that was about 6 or 8 month ago. I gave up and bought a 4dr Bronco and am dealing with that soft top...but at least it folds all the way back without the ridiculous trend of opening and sitting at the back top of the roof like a bunch of broken lawn furniture.

Sad part is Fords competition can do it on a 2dr wrangler...why can't ford engineers. I hope that if they do make a soft top that they put in a rear zippered window and not the travesty that is on the 4dr soft top. That rear hatch design is an embarrassment.

I am curious about why anybody thought a slantback that didn't fold flat was an acceptable solution. I'm not buying anything until they get it right.

I feel the same way. However the funny thing is I've decided that in safari mode, (windows removed) it actually looks better than the others since it follows the rollbars.

People will think I'm crazy for this.

I want a cheap, thin, plastic window soft top like my original Bronco had. With soft doors it was super easy to take down and put up. My favorite was to roll up the back and sides and toss the doors in the back.

Super easy and light weight. I drove with it through Maryland winters back in the 80's no problem.

Folding all the way back would be nice, but I much prefer the slant back and if I had to chose between folding all the way or a slant back I'll take the latter.

If bestop comes out with a top that folds all the way down they have my money. I actually love my factory soft top, but give me a best top like they offer on the Wrangler( The Ultra Top I think its called) and I'll be more than happy to switch.

I did the same thing earlier this year and the answer to my email was they don't have any plans to make any other top options for the 2 door. I added 4 or 5 wrangler options they already produce and asked if any of them will be made for the Bronco and got the same answer. I then offered my 2 door up for R&D since Bestop is only 30 minutes away and still zip.

I will be buying a Rampage top in the spring as it 's a little better than the Bestop SB which IMO is the ugliest top I've ever seen!

As others have said I want something simple and not a $1500-1800 ugly slant top, all of my old Jeeps had a Safari Bikini top with hard doors and this is my #1 choice, how hard could that be to make?

Yep, that exactly, love the safari look of the bestop . I don't mind the folded back look....since I'm driving and not looking at it!

Out of curiosity and since I will be buying one in the Spring. How fast can you get the side windows and back window on if it starts raining?

Fairly quickly, just around 3 minutes...1 per window. Though I've been caught without the windows , and had doors off, in a significant rain, and didn't get much water in the cabin while driving.
